Man Utd could sign Sergio Reguilon permanently by Aheed, September 26, 2023
Sergio Reguilon, on loan from Manchester United
According to AS (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United could make the signing of Sergio Reguilon permanent when the transfer window reopens in January.
The Red Devils brought the Spain international to Old Trafford on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the latter stages of the summer window after he suffered an injury at left-back.
Tyrell Malacia has not played for United since last season and has been out, while Luke Shaw was also injured at the start of the season and is expected to be out for an extended period.
Therefore, signing Reguilon on deadline day seemed like a smart move on Man Utd’s part and it has paid off as the 26-year-old has put in some impressive performances for the club in recent matches.
Will Reguilon find his place at United? Reguilon has been one of the bright spots for United despite his disappointing performances against Brighton & Hove Albion, Bayern Munich and Burnley.
The Spaniard’s tenacity and energy in the three games he has started has been admirable and the left-back has looked menacing in the final third of the pitch for the Red Devils.
Tottenham signed Reguilon from Real Madrid in the summer of 2020 following his impressive loan spell at Sevilla, where he won the Europa League. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out for the Lilywhites defender and he barely played last season while on loan at Atlético Madrid.
However, there is still a decent player in Reguilon and he is showing glimpses of himself at United under Erik ten Hag, who have had to rely on the former Madrid star for their defense due to the growing crisis injuries. LogoBy Clever AdvertisingCloseCLVR
Reguilon has made a decent move to Man United so far and the MEN are quoted in AS print as saying they could make his move permanent in January if he continues to impress.
Reguilon is currently valued at around £8m by Transfermarkt and he would be a smart buy if United could sign him at that price. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the left-back if he continues to perform at a high level.
