Rio Ferdinand has explained why Arsenal should be confident of beating Manchester United this weekend
Rio Ferdinand believes Arsenal do not deserve to be crowned Premier League champions this season if they can’t beat Erik ten Hag’s struggling Manchester United on Sunday.

The Gunners are involved in a tight Premier League title battle against Manchester City with Mikel Arteta’s side just a point clear of the champions. City will go top if they secure victory at Fulham in the early kick-off on Saturday ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Old Trafford the next day.

And United legend Ferdinand has detailed why he thinks the pressure is on Arteta’s team against Ten Hag’s side. He believes United won’t have much to play for this weekend, meaning Arsenal should be confident in securing a comfortable three points.

“I think if Arsenal lose against Man United in this game, they don’t deserve to be champions. Because you’re going to a team that’s depleted, lacking confidence, almost nothing to play for in the league now, and they’re the teams you want to play against in the run-in,” Ferdinand said on his Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE YouTube channel.

“I remember playing in the title run-ins, if we were seven or eight games out towards the end of the season you’re thinking: ‘just give me a team that have got nothing to play for and have a few injuries as well’, they’re already booking their holiday on the beach. Man United for me are in that bracket, bar the cup final, all these other games in the league is just about personal pride for now.

“Is there enough of that there? I think there’s a lot of question marks on Manchester United but Arsenal players will be able to go ‘there’s so many question marks there, we can’t be going into that match thinking can we?’ It should be ‘we’re going to deal with these, roll them over and carry on with our task to try and win the league. That’s how Arsenal players should be thinking right now.”
