Alejandro Garnacho’s five-word reply outside Old Trafford and ‘pushing fan’ as he hits new low.

Alejandro Garnacho’s five-word reply outside Old Trafford and ‘pushing fan’ as he hits new low.

Alejandro Garnacho was once one of Manchester United’s poster boys but his relationship with the fans took one hit after another, leading to his sour reception when returning with Chelsea.

Manchester United fans made their feelings towards Alejandro Garnacho abundantly clear as he returned to Old Trafford with Chelsea. Despite staying on the bench as his new club was beaten 2-1 by Ruben Amorim’s side, United supporters took every opportunity to barrack the Argentine, who left for a cut-price £40million in the summer.

Garnacho was booed and jeered as he stepped off the Chelsea team bus and during the warm-up. The reaction was perhaps to be expected, as there were regular question marks about his attitude during his time at United.

Then, following the devastating Europa League final defeat to Tottenham, he blotted his copybook again with a stinging assessment of the club’s season, calling it “s***” and complaining about not starting the game. Garnacho’s relationship with Amorim had already broken down by that point, with the club eager to offload him in the summer.

It was a sad state of affairs, given how highly he was rated by United at one point; his incredible overhead kick at Everton in 2023 springs to mind. He was once seen as one of the club’s young poster boys, but a series of misdemeanours and spats soured his relationship with both the club and its fanbase to the point of no return.

Goaded outside Old Trafford

Garnacho once hit back at a fan with a five-word reply after being goaded outside Old Trafford. As he signed autographs and posed for pictures ahead of a Europa League tie against POAK last November, one forthright individual gave the attacker a piece of his mind.
