Manchester United could bank millions as Ruben Amorim plans January transfer.
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana joined Trabzonspor on a straight loan deal earlier this month after a difficult start to the season.
We are only a few weeks removed from the summer transfer window but the fast-paced nature of football means that talk surrounding Manchester United’s business in January is already beginning.
The Reds have endured a mediocre start to the new campaign with the penalty defeat to Grimsby Town seen as a particularly low point for Ruben Amorim. However, victory on Saturday against Chelsea eased some of the pressure on his shoulders albeit he will still likely be desperate to add further additions to his squad in January and, further ahead, into the summer too.
To do that, United may well have to look at selling players again to raise funds. In our latest look at the media landscape, MEN Sport has analysed a couple of rumours surrounding players leaving Old Trafford.
Onana’s future decided
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the expectation in the United camp is that Andre Onana is close to the end of his chapter with the club. While Trabzonspor have no clause to sign the Cameroonian permanently, it is not expected that the goalkeeper will be re-introduced to the squad.
Romano suggested that this could change if, for instance, Amorim was sacked but the expectation now is that too much water has gone under the bridge and Onana will seek a permanent departure next summer.
What MEN Sport says: “This is a rather unsurprising development and, in truth, is the right call. Unless Onana manages a brilliant AFCON at the turn of the year and impresses in Turkey, there seems to be no scenario where United fans would welcome him back with open arms.
