The Man City ace knows from experience that, whenever one of Manchester United’s most experienced players takes to the pitch, rabbit-out-of-the-hat moments are always possible.

Take Sunday afternoon, for instance. Darting in behind after a quick throw-in caught the opposition out, running onto a brilliant backheel flick from his centre-forward, Manchester United‘s Christian Eriksen controlled the ball beautifully on his chest and fizzed a volley into the bottom corner.

It might not have been enough to secure an opening win for Denmark in their Euro 2024 group-stage clash with Slovenia. But it certainly will have had Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate sitting up and taking notice ahead of England’s matchday two match-up with the Scandinavian’s on Thursday night.

Kyle Walker played alongside Eriksen at Tottenham Hotspur, a reunion expected in Frankfurt this evening. And while the 32-year-old playmaker may not be quite the same creative force of his Spurs days, you won’t find the Man City right-back taking the threat Eriksen poses lightly.

Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen shines at Euro 2024

“I think that you have to give (Denmark) the level of respect that they deserve,” Walker tells The Independent. “Obviously, they’ve got a number of players in the Premier League.

“I played a number of years with Christian Eriksen at Tottenham. And, in some moments, he can produce magic on the drop of the hat.

“We go into the game fully focused and wanting the three points as we did the other night and hopefully we can play a little bit better in the second-half (vs Serbia) and hopefully the nerves have gone a little bit.”

Three years on from the cardiac arrest which had the whole of Europe praying for his good health, Eriksen returned to the tournament stage with a goal which epitomised his enduring class and quality.

There. is areason why Rasmus Hojlund – his United and Denmark team-mate – labels Eriksen ‘world-class’.

And Walker is delighted to see the former Ajax, Brentford and Inter Milan man playing at the very top level again, not long after his career – not to mention his life – was in serious danger.

“He’s fantastic. It is a testament to him,” adds Walker, who was part of the Man City side beaten by Eriken’s United in last month’s FA Cup final.

“Obviously, us both playing in Manchester for the different clubs, we do bump into each other from time to time and have a catch up.

“But for what he’s done and what he’s achieved after the sad incident that happened, it just shows what a character he is and what he possesses really.”

Denmark face England in Frankfurt

Eriksen’s future remains uncertain at club level this summer. But, mustering the most key passes at Euro 2024 so far with seven already, there will be a lot of teams on the continent feeling they can still make very good use of Eriksen’s vast experience and nous.

“The goal he scored for Denmark shows that his form for Manchester United was dragged down by those around him and by the state the club was in,” former Red Devils right-back Paul Parker argues, in conversation with Danish publication Tipsbladet.

“His first touch with the chest gave him the opportunity to finish immediately. It was like watching a centre-forward.

“If Ten Hag is allowed to move the team forward and bring in the players he wants, I think he will say goodbye to Christian Eriksen,” adds Parker, a two-time Premier League champion under Sir Alex Ferguson in the 1990s.

“He will not be able to offer Christian Eriksen the regular playing time that he needs. Eriksen would, of course, like to play as much as possible before his time as a player is over. He needs to play regularly and he is one of those players who needs to be looked after as he gets older.

“If United want to move forward, they shouldn’t say; ‘We need Christian Eriksen’.

“And that’s not to be disrespectful to him because he is, without a shadow, of a doubt a great player. It’s not a label I throw around.

“But he’s been an excellent player.”

“His medical is completed but he’ll be with us after the Euro…It’s like a dream come true for me and even the fans”: Erik ten Hag confirms Man United has signed versatile player who the fans always demand for the past two seasons

As per reports, Man Utd are closing in on reaching a deal to hire the services of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.

The Red Devils are intent on luring the Dutch striker, who is expected to leave the Italian side in the summer transfer window.

Florian Plettenberg has recently revealed that the Old Trafford club are moving to hijack the deal from AC Milan.

According to Football Insider, Man Utd are closing in on a deal for Zirkzee and are holding talks with the Serie A side.

The news source claim the 20-time English champions could activate the release clause of £33.8million to get the signing done.

As per today’s version of Corriere dello Sport, Milan have already agreed a five year contract with Zirkzee worth four million euros per season.

The Rossoneri are even willing to activate the termination clause but they do not want to pay the 15 million euros demanded by the forward’s agent, Kia Joorabchian.

CorSport claim Man Utd have already asked Zirkzee’s rep for information and understand all the figures required to get the deal over the line.

The Oranje player is naturally a center forward but can also play on the flanks and even as a secondary striker if needed.

As per The Star today, the versatile star’s arrival ‘would push’ Marcus Rahsford towards Old Trafford exit.

We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds and will keep you updated.

Manchester United are set to introduce yet another youth signing to their ranks after completing the capture of James Overy earlier in the campaign – with Reading star Camron Mpofu reportedly on his way to Old Trafford at the age of just 15.

The Red Devils are expected to undergo a huge rebuild when it comes to their first-team in the summer, with the likes of Casemiro, Marcus Rashford and more being tipped with moves away from the club as INEOS get to work on replenishing the first-team squad. But thinking long-term, there is also a need to bring in youth players on the cheap so that they can either excel in United’s development squads or be sold for ‘pure profit’ fees in the future.

Manchester United: Camron Mpofu Transfer Latest

The Red Devils could be raiding the Royals.

And, with that in mind, Manchester Evening News reporter Samuel Luckhurst claims that Mpofu is on his way into the Red Devils set up with the finishing touches of a deal close. His report states that United are expected to sign Mpofu from Reading, though a thorough Premier League process must be ‘navigated’ before a deal for the 15-year-old goes through.

Mpofu can represent either England or Scotland at youth level, and made his debut for the Tartan Army under-16 squad against Spain back in April; but until he makes a competitive appearance for the first-team, he is free to meander between youth teams before he makes his choice.

A report by the Daily Mail suggested as such in May, with the Scotland-born striker having moved south before joining Reading three years ago after a successful trial. Scotland youth coaches know that he is being tracked by a handful of top clubs and having played for them in friendlies against Spain and Hong Kong, it is certainly a rapid rise for the youngster.

Overy and Silva Mexes Tyler-Earnshaw – the son of former Wales international Robert Earnshaw – have also been signed in recent weeks with a clear focus on developing youth under INEOS and the imminent arrival of Mpofu will only add to their impressive youth scouting mere weeks after the season ended.

United Fan Attention Will Turn to Rebuild

Supporters will be happy with youngsters joining but need first-teamers.

Whilst United fans will be happy that three top youngsters have signed on at the Theatre of Dreams with a move to securing the club’s future, all eyes will be on how the first-team squad is shaped ahead of a busy summer that could hugely dictate the picture INEOS have set as the saviours to United’s long-winded lack of success.

Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane have already been confirmed as leaving the club at the end of the month once their contracts expire after nine and three-year spells at Old Trafford respectively, but plenty of others could leave with United aiming to get rid of their high earners for younger stars who have potential to become elite players.

Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes were thought to be the only players unavailable for transfer at the start of the window; but with plenty other stars picking up interest, the futures of other current players could also be safe.

One player United won’t be signing is Jean-Clair Todibo, with UEFA ruling meaning that the Red Devils can’t sign anyone from French outfit Nice due to INEOS’ multi-club ownership prohibiting transfers between the two teams.

Manchester United have opened talks with a club over the transfer of Mason Greenwood, according to a report.

Greenwood was shipped out on loan to Getafe last season after Man United’s internal investigation into his conduct.

He was arrested in January 2022 following allegations surrounding material which was published on social media.

Charges against the forward, including attempted rape and assault, were dropped on February 2 of last year.

Greenwood scored 10 goals in 36 games across all competitions for Getafe last season.

His future lies away from Old Trafford following an end-of-season review, with the club deciding against integrating him into the first-team squad.

The Red Devils are listening to offers for the 22-year-old, with reports claiming Lazio are in talks over a transfer this summer.

That’s according to The Daily Mail, who claim the Italian side have opened talks with Man United over a £30 million swoop for Greenwood.

Man United are now bracing themselves for other clubs to table their offers for Greenwood after Lazio made their move.

The Serie A outfit, who finished in seventh place last season, have a long-standing interest in the player and wanted to bring the Englishman to Stadio Olimpico last season before Getafe snapped him up.

It’s claimed that talks are developing positively over an initial £30 million fee that could rise with performance related add-ons.

The Rome-based team believe they can provide the platform for Greenwood to take the next positive step in his rehabilitation.

Lazio are trying to convince him that the project provides the best chance to continue rebuilding on the progress made at Getafe opposed to their domestic rivals, per the report.

Lazio face stiff competition to acquire his services ahead of the new season, with Juventus and Napoli also interested.

Teams in Spain, Germany and Portugal are also keeping tabs on Greenwood this summer.
