“Erik ten Hag doesn’t know anything about football…The player he refused to even played him once last season is now the best player at the ongoing EURO”: Man United legend says the Player Erik ten Hag refused to use last season is now the best player at the ongoing EURO

If you showed this goal to Manchester United supporters, with the player’s face blanked out, they would be forgiven for assuming it came from Rasmus Hojlund.

A clever, darting run off the shoulder and into the penalty area, controlling a flicked pass instantly before rifling a shot into the far corner. Emphatic, instinctive, and the mark of a true goalscorer. It was the sort of finish Rasmus Hojlund demonstrated on numerous occasions throughout a promising debut season at Old Trafford.

It wasn’t Hojlund who opened the scoring during Sunday’s 2-1 win over Slovenia, however, but his Denmark team-mate Christian Eriksen. The midfielder needed only 17 minutes to score as many goals at Euro 2024 as he managed in his last 51 appearances for Manchester United (one) across all competitions.

So, with Eriksen clearly still possessing the goalscoring talents that once put him amongst Europe’s elite attacking midfielders at Tottenham Hotspur, why has he hit the net only twice under Erik ten Hag for the Red Devils.

Christian Eriksen facing Manchester United exit

Of course the obvious answer is that with Bruno Fernandes in that number ten spot, Eriksen has had to play a little deeper at club level. Not so much a box-crasher, but more of a deep-lying playmaker.

Former right-back Paul Parker, meanwhile, wonders if Eriksen’s Old Trafford team-mates are to blame as well; United seldom playing the kind of quick, incisive football that opened up that Slovenian backline and left Eriksen free to combine beautifully with Wolfsburg’s Jonas Wind and thrash home.

“The goal he scored for Denmark shows that his form for Manchester United was dragged down by those around him and by the state the club was in,” Parker argues, in conversation with Danish publication Tipsbladet.

“His first touch with the chest gave him the opportunity to finish immediately. It was like watching a centre-forward.”

So, would Parker retain Eriksen’s services if the choice was his? Admittedly, no, a parting of the ways the right move for both United and their 32-year-old veteran.

“If Ten Hag is allowed to move the team forward and bring in the players he wants, I think he will say goodbye to Christian Eriksen,” adds Parker, a two-time Premier League champion under Sir Alex Ferguson in the 1990s.

“He will not be able to offer Christian Eriksen the regular playing time that he needs. Eriksen would, of course, like to play as much as possible before his time as a player is over. He needs to play regularly and he is one of those players who needs to be looked after as he gets older.

“If United want to move forward, they shouldn’t say; ‘We need Christian Eriksen’.

“And that’s not to be disrespectful to him because he is, without a shadow, of a doubt a great player. It’s not a label I throw around.

“But he’s been an excellent player.”

With only one year left on his contract and Man United pursuing young, athletic midfield talents such as Joao Neves, Amadou Onana, Morten Hjulmand and Youssouf Fofana, the Red Devils are unlikely to stand in Eriksen’s way even if the man himself has made it clear he is not interested in settling into that Saudi Arabian retirement home.

There is clearly plenty of bark left in this old dog, however. Man of the Match against Slovenia, Eriksen is also top of the charts for the most key passes at Euro 2024 with seven (WhoScored).

Any transfer not approved by me will be vehemently stopped, I’m the head coach and the decider of players to sign…You can’t just sign such player for me and I’ll be happy”: Erik ten Hag reacts after Man United listened to his plea and cancel deal for £70m superstar who recently agreed terms to join the Club

Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Jarrad Branthwaite but the latest update on the saga suggests that the terms are “meaningless’.

According to a story published by iNews today, the Toffees are confident that the Old Trafford club will not be able to pay up to secure the signing of the 21-year-old defender.

Not so long ago, the Red Devils moved in with a bid worth £35million plus £8million objectives for the English center half.

However, the offer was immediately turned down by the Goodison Park outfit.

Since then, Man Utd are waiting for an indication from the Blues that they will be prepared to reduce the current asking fee of £80million.

As per iNews, there is absolutely ‘no chance’ the Toffees will lower the fee demanded, on the other hand, Man Utd are intent on not paying over the odds for signing Branthwaite.

It is stated that United reportedly agreed personal terms with the former Carlisle starlet, however, the agreement has been described by a dealmaker as “meaningless” as there is no deal between the two clubs.

Branthwaite has three years left on his deal and he is ‘committed to Everton’, who believe their prized asset is as valuable as Harry Maguire, for whom Man Utd sent £80million to Leicester five years ago.

So, with Ratcliffe determined not to pay up and the Toffees not budging from their valuation, the transfer saga is expected to end with the player staying at Merseyside.

Manchester United cannot solely rely on Rasmus Hojlund going in to the next campaign and must sign a center forward this summer.

As per the latest reports going on in the media, Man Utd are pressing hard to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and are preparing to meet the asking fee of £33.8million (clause)

According to The Telegraph, the main priorities for the Red Devils this summer is to lure a center forward and a defensive midfielder.

As far as the No.9 position is concerned, the British source claim that Man Utd are preparing to activate the termination clause worth £33.8million to sign Zirkzee from the Rossoblu.

The Old Trafford outfit have lined up alternatives as well but they are keen on luring the 23-year-old Netherlands forward.

Retired Dutch goal scorer, Robin van Persie, netted 26 goals in the 2012-13 campaign to help United win the Premier League title.

Since then, not even a single striker or player at Old Trafford has managed to reach the mark of 20 goals in a PL campaign, and that is why we have never come close to winning the title again.

Hojlund only netted 10 goals in the last league season and must improve big time next term. On the other hand, Zirkzee only netted 11 goals for Bologna in the Serie A.

Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement in principle with the representative of Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee over agent fees.

In recent days, Zirkzee has emerged as United’s primary target for the striker position as the club seeks to secure the services of a reliable talisman to compete with Rasmus Hojlund for a starter role.

Zirkzee would also add quality up front and act as a replacement for Anthony Martial, who is set to officially depart Old Trafford at the end of the current month.

For weeks, AC Milan were thought to be firm favourites to land Zirkee, with the Serie A club even getting the player’s blessing to pursue him. However, Milan’s deal for the Netherlands international stalled because of a problem with his agent’s commission.

Zirkzee’s representative, Kia Joorabchian, demanded a hefty €15 million sum. The Rossoneri made it clear they would not fork out such a figure. Joorabchian even slashed his asking price but even then, Milan refused to pay.

This effectively left the door open for United to swoop in for Zirkzee. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Joorabchian is prepared to give the Red Devils a huge discount on his commission in order to get his client a switch to Old Trafford. It’s understood that Joorabchian wants just £8 million from Erik ten Hag’s side.

Journalist Nick Semeraro has given an update on the situation and indicated that there is now an agreement in place between United and Joorabchian over his agent fees.

Semeraro wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Manchester United have found an agreement in principle with Kia Joorabchian on the payment of commissions.”

“Bologna is aware of the Red Devils’ willingness to pay the clause (as anticipated yesterday). Now it depends on the will of the player, who is currently involved in the European football championships.”

“Despite this, Milan have not changed their position and are confident in the player’s will.”

Semeraro’s information is corroborated by Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, who also relays that the only thing left is for Zirkzee to give the green light to United.

“Manchester United expected to meet €40m release clause in Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee’s contract. If they do, it’s up to the player to decide whether he wants to talk. Strong interest remains from other clubs.”

Zirkzee is currently with the Dutch national team who are taking part in Euro 2024.
