Fabrizio Romano drops really exciting Ricardo Calafiori update for Liverpool fans amid ‘personal terms’ claim
NEWS TRANSFER RUMOURS

Fabrizio Romano has now suggested that Ricardo Calafiori’s potential move to Juventus is far from certain.
Bologna could prove seriously resistant to losing the Italian international owing to the nature of former boss Thiago Motta’s departure to The Old Lady this summer.
Despite securing an agreement on personal terms with the centre-back, the footballer could yet find himself shipped off abroad ‘for bigger money’.
“Thiago Motta and Ricardo Calafiori already agreed on personal terms with Juventus weeks ago but between Juventus and Bologna the situation is complicated,” the CaughtOffside columnist spoke on Playback.
“First of all, because Bologna were not so happy with how Motta joined Juventus. So the situation is quite tense between the two clubs. Also because Bologna believe that if the player can keep performing like this after a fantastic season at Serie A, and now at the Euros, maybe they can sell him abroad for bigger money.”
This comes amid reports of Liverpool’s interest in the 22-year-old footballer, as discussed by James Horncastle.

It’s absolutely exciting to hear about Liverpool casting their gaze over talents like Leny Yoro and Ricardo Calafiori.
Of course, it would be even more exciting to see Richard Hughes and Co. get one or more of these deals over the line.
The Bologna star has been absolutely exceptional at club level since Motta converted him from a rangey left-back to a centre-half. It seems he’s even taken that form to the Euros as Italy secured a 2-1 comeback over Albania.
He’ll cost us a pretty penny this summer, but if we’re willing to spend big on Yoro to snatch the Frenchman away from Real Madrid – we should be equally invested in the opportunity present with Calafiori.

Barnes insists ‘nothing will change’ for Foden in an England shirt after sharing similar experience
Joe Williams 13 hours ago
Phil Foden struggled to get into the match against Serbia.
John Barnes thinks Phil Foden will continue to have problems playing for England as they don’t play like Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
The attacking midfielder struggled to get into the Three Lions’ 1-0 victory over Serbia on Sunday with most of England’s good playing coming down their right-hand side.
Many believe Foden’s best position is just behind the striker as a number ten but realistically he will have to settle for playing out on the left for England, somewhere he has also played for Man City in the past.
Barnes sympathises with the Premier League Player of the Year as he too went through a similar experience under Sir Bobby Robson when playing for England and Liverpool.
And Barnes doubts Foden will become a star of Euro 2024 for England unless the Three Lions start playing like Man City or the attacker changes position.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Barnes said: “It’s like having an out-of-body experience. I went through something very similar.
How far will England go at Euro 2024?
Winners
Last four
Last-16 or quarter-finals
Group stage exit
“Sir Bobby Robson used to say to me, ‘We want you to play for England the way you play for Liverpool’.
“You know what I said to him? ‘If England played the way Liverpool do, then I would’.
“It’s the same for Foden. Whether you put Foden on the left, the middle or the right, unless England are going to play like Man City, nothing will change.
“The left-back for Man City is Josko Gvardiol. He’s not a left-footer. The way Man City play suits him.
“It doesn’t matter about using him, Anthony Gordon, Cole Palmer… unless England play the way their clubs play, it doesn’t matter. You’ll never get the best out of them.”
Barnes added: “If Jude Bellingham is going to be the No.10, the playmaker on the ball all the time, all Foden will be is a bit-part player. Work hard, defend, give the ball to Bellingham.
“Therefore, what is he doing there? It doesn’t matter what position he plays. The football, the tactics, the template of how they play, the way they move the ball… unless it’s going to be like Man City, you’ll never see the best of Foden.”

Cesc Fabregas suggested that Foden needs to take more responsibility in an England shirt and needs to “want it more than the rest”.
Fabregas said: “You see Jude [Bellingham] imposing himself, getting in the face of opponents, he oozes this class.
“He [Foden] needs to do that himself as well. A player of this class, level and talent at times doesn’t even need to be told by the coach what he needs to do.
“Phil needs to want it more than the rest and it showed that Jude Bellingham is a little bit above him in this regard.
“Foden needs to get that personality back and do what he does at Manchester City.”

TRANSFERSWinger expected to join Manchester City next month – Player’s representatives working on Etihad Stadium stayPublished: 15:00 on June 18th 2024 | Last Updated: 12:19 on June 18th 2024By Freddie Pye

Manchester City fans can expect to see Brazilian international winger Savio in a sky blue shirt from next month, according to a new report.
It was exclusively reported by transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano back in mid-February that the Premier League champions had signed all documents to sign Sávio from July 1, in the first completed deal ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The wider understanding is that the agreement between Manchester City and ESTAC Troyes – also part of the City Football Group – for Savio is worth around €40 million, in a fee that has been scrutinised by the Premier League over fair market value.
With the player currently in limbo over his future off the back of an excellent season with Girona in La Liga, and the Catalan club looking ahead to their first season the UEFA Champions League, the Brazilian remains focussed on his nation’s Copa America hopes.
However, reports continue to circulate concerning the player’s future, and the latest information to emerge concerns a firm intention to play under Pep Guardiola next season as opposed to going on loan from the club.
According to the information of Premier League Brasil, Savio is now expected to join Manchester City in July for the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, where four matches await Pep Guardiola and his players.
However, while it is stated that Manchester City are yet to decide on whether to retain the player or sanction a loan deal for next season, the Brazilian’s representatives are working to have the player make the switch to the Etihad Stadium and ‘stay there’.
Elsewhere, and Manchester City are still understood to be in the market for fresh attacking recruits this summer, in a move that could ultimately decide the fate of Savio should any deals be completed in the attacking line.
Etihad Stadium recruitment bosses hold a strong interest in Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, however the Frenchman is simultaneously fielding contact and interest from a number of powerhouse clubs including Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
Manchester City could yet also enter the market for a new striker, with back-up option Julian Alvarez in search of more consistent game time as a leading number nine, and attracting interest from the likes of Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

TRANSFERSManchester City attempting to hijack Real Madrid’s €45 million move for midfield starPublished: 18:00 on June 18th 2024 | Last Updated: 14:53 on June 18th 2024By Harry Winters

Manchester City are planning to hijack Real Madrid’s summer move for River Plate teenager Franco Mastanuono.
The 16-year-old could become Manchester City’s third recent addition from South American giants River Plate, following in the footsteps of striker Julian Alvarez and midfielder Claudio Echeverri.
Alvarez has made over 100 appearances since moving to the Etihad Stadium in 2022, meanwhile Echeverri is expected to complete a switch to east Manchester in January, having signed until 2028 earlier this year for an initial £12.5 million.
Etihad bosses are lining up another potential addition from the Argentinian outfit, with teenage midfielder Franco Mastanuono having emerged as a summer transfer target for Manchester City and the City Football Group.
The 16-year-old has made 18 appearances for River Plate in 2024, including three showings and one goal during the club’s Copa Libertadores campaign.
The attacking midfielder, who can also play out wide, signed a new deal with River Plate in March until 2026, but could complete a major transfer to Europe due to a €45 million release clause within the player’s latest contract.
Real Madrid have already taken steps towards signing the teenager this summer, but have reached an impasse in negotiations with River Plate regarding the midfielder’s transfer fee.
Sport Witness relay claims for Spanish outlet Sport that Manchester City are now considering hijacking the deal, with the Premier League champions willing to ‘blow up’ Mastanuono’s agreement and ‘intensify’ the transfer battle.
Manchester City are reportedly planning an ‘express operation’ to complete a shock transfer swoop and bring the teenager to England instead of Spain this summer.
City and Real Madrid have been involved in a series of battles both on and off the pitch in recent years, with the La Liga outfit knocking Manchester City out of the UEFA Champions League on penalties in April.

Simon Jordan believes “a deal may be struck” regarding Manchester City’s 115 charges for alleged Premier League financial breaches.
Liverpool’s top flight rivals were charged in February 2023 over historical breaches of the league’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules between 2009 and 2018. City have strongly denied all charges while an independent commission scrutinises the case.
It has recently been reported that the club are gearing up to take legal action against the Premier League, with reports indicating their intent to dismiss the league’s ‘unlawful’ Associated Party Transaction (APT) regulations.
