David De Gea Bids a Fond Farewell to Manchester United Fans
David De Gea has sent an emotional farewell letter to Manchester United fans, capping out his illustrious Reds career.
David moved from Atletico Madrid to Manchester in the summer of 2011, and he remained a stalwart between the posts for the next 12 years, cementing his place as one of the club’s all-time greats.
Today, he leaves Old Trafford as a legend, leaving an unforgettable legacy of 545 appearances, 190 clean sheets, and a slew of personal accomplishments, records, and trophies.
David showed his gratitude to his supporters on his official Twitter account:
“Writing this farewell message to all Manchester United supporters is an extremely difficult task.”
“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude and profound appreciation for the love you’ve shown me over the last 12 years.”
“Since the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club and entrusted me with the honour of donning this badge, we’ve accomplished so much.”
“I felt a tremendous sense of pride every time I wore this shirt.” Leading the team and representing this institution, the world’s largest club, is a privilege reserved for only a few lucky footballers.
“Since I arrived here, the journey has been unforgettable and fruitful.” I could never have envisioned the heights we would reach together when I left Madrid as a young lad.
“Now is the time for me to take on a new challenge, to test my limits in new environments, and to embark on new adventures.”
“Manchester has made an indelible impression on me and will always be a part of who I am.” This club, Old Trafford, and our incredible fans will always have a special place in my heart.
“Together, we’ve experienced it all.”
