Tottenham Hotspur’s summer transfer plans may have just been given a big boost in the race to sign one of their top targets.

The Lilywhites have been able to add to their frontline by retaining Timo Werner for the 2024/25 campaign on a season-long loan.

However, Ange Postecoglou‘s options in attack are currently as they were in the final game of last season.

Tottenham remain in need of adding to their options with the future of Richarlison uncertain with interest in the striker from Saudi Arabia.

It now appears the path may have been cleared for Daniel Levy to make his move for one of the club’s top targets this summer with Manchester City no longer planning a move.

Tottenham handed boost in race to sign £60m target

Spurs have already spent significantly on the arrival of Archie Gray to bolster Postecoglou’s options in midfield.

But it is in attack where Spurs may now feel they need to address with the frontline struggling towards the back end of last season.

Heung-min Son was able to fill in well for the departed Harry Kane last season, but the South Korean faded towards the end of the campaign.

If Spurs are going to compete on all fronts this season, Postecoglou is going to need to rotate his side and to do that he is going to need quality options at his disposal.

According to The Athletic, Manchester City are no longer planning a move for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze this summer.

After showing a real interest in the England international last year, Pep Guardiola‘s side can be considered out of the race this time around.

It is believed Spurs would need to activate Eze’s release clause in his Palace contract which is said to be worth in the region of £60m.

Eberechi Eze could reach ‘superstar’ levels

After an impressive campaign for the Eagles, Eze has been selected for Gareth Southgate’s England squad for this summer’s Euros.

And the 25-year-old has featured from the bench on a number of occasions over in Germany where he has been tipped to potentially reach ‘superstar’ levels.

“At tournaments, you always get a player who comes out of the blue and becomes a superstar. We’ve seen it at World Cups and Euros over the years,” Paul Merson told Sky Sports.

“For me, Eze could be that player.”

But Spurs have other options on their list this summer with the likes of Desire Doue and Pedro Neto also believed to be of interest.
