Deal Accepted: Manchester United midfielder signs new deal

Deal Accepted: Manchester United midfielder signs new deal

Amid their race for several players this summer, Manchester United on Thursday announced that their midfielder Toby Collyer has penned a new contract with the club.

According to the reports, the new contract will see Collyer remain at Old Trafford until 2027 with the option to extend it by one year..

The Red Devils in a statement released via the club’s official website said the new deal is reward for Collyer’s efforts since joining the club.

They also extended their congratulations to the midfielder and wish him well for what lies ahead in 2024/25 season.

Recall that Collyer moved to Man United in 2022 from Brighton and made the first-team bench for seven Premier League matches last season.

With manager Erik ten Hag retaining his job at Old Trafford, there are speculations of changes in the Red Devils squad next season.

While Man Utd are still working on completing deals for new players, it is believed that the likes of Collyer could get a chance to play under Ten Hag.

Meanwhile, Man Utd are keen on competing for trophies next season after they defeated their neighbours Man City in the FA Cup finals last campaign.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United have had a “bid accepted” by Lille worth over €50m (£42.26m) for Leny Yoro on July 9.

Manchester United Make €50 Million Bid for Leny Yoro

Real Madrid Remain Calm

Manchester United have made a significant move in the summer transfer market, with a formal bid exceeding €50m (£42.26m) for French centre-back Yoro. The bid has been accepted by Lille, but the situation remains intriguing as Real Madrid closely monitor the developments.

Yoro’s preference to join the Spanish giants adds an extra layer of complexity to the negotiations. If he prefers a move to Real Madrid, and they cannot come to an agreement for a specified price, the player would have to stay for one more season to allow the European Champions to snap the “future diamond” up as a free agent.

Manchester United’s Position on Centre-Backs Signings

Manchester United announced in May that Champions League winner, Raphael Varane, will be leaving the club at the end of the 2023/24 season due to the expiration of his contract, prompting the club to start looking for a replacement. They will likely make new signings in that position, especially with Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans having just a year left on their contracts.

Manchester United’s search for centre-backs hasn’t been successful yet, as their second bid for English defender Jarrad Branthwaite was rejected by Everton. The offer included an initial £45 million plus £5 million in add-ons. The club had previously submitted a bid for the 22-year-old in June, which fell short of Everton’s valuation of him at £35 million plus add-ons.

Everton consider Branthwaite a key player for their Premier League campaign. It remains to be seen if Manchester United will come back with an improved bid, but it seems unlikely as the club wants to avoid getting involved in prolonged negotiations, as they have in previous transfer windows.

Matthijs De Ligt Talks Still Ongoing

Manchester United are still exploring other options as they continue to remain in contact with Bayern Munich over Matthijs De Ligt. Fabrizio Romano confirmed on July 7 that the Red Devils were increasingly confident in the deal, as the Dutchman discussed with his agent that he is only giving priority to United.
