‘Give me a call’ Sir Jim Ratcliffe ready to sell club after becoming “consumed” with Man United

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Sir Jim Ratcliffe could sell French club OGC Nice after becoming “consumed” with Man United.

Sports-loving Ratcliffe purchased Swiss side Lausanne-Sport in 2017 and followed that with a buyout at Nice in 2019.

His INEOS company has since taken control of footballing operations at Man United after taking a 27.7% stake in the club in February.

Ratcliffe has since set about making sweeping changes at Old Trafford, installing a new executive hierarchy and making 250 of the club’s staff redundant.

Ratcliffe could sell Nice after becoming ‘consumed with Man United’, says Wyness

Wyness claimed the billionaire’s “bandwidth has got a limit” and could lead to him selling Nice.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “The Todibo situation is the sort of thing that will push him towards Man United and is likely to lead to him selling Nice.

“He’s consumed right now with United. God bless him for that, it’s good for an owner.

“The bandwidth, even for Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has got a limit.

“I think that Nice was a good learning curve for him, but football in France is unique and there are different challenges down there.

“It’s two different cultures and challenges, societies and fanbases.

“He’s best divesting of Nice, and I’ve got someone who wants to buy it – so he can give me a call.

Spain and RB Leipzig attacker Dani Olmo has impressed at Euro 2024

Manchester United have been credited with an interest in RB Leipzig’s attacking midfielder Dani Olmo, and they could be set to do battle with neighbours Manchester City for his signature.

According to a report by FootballTransfers, United are ‘interested’ in signing the Spanish international, who has taken EURO 2024 by storm this summer.

Olmo, 26, has scored three goals and registered two assists in the tournament and has played a key role in Spain setting up a European Championship final clash with England in Berlin on Sunday.

The former Dinamo Zagreb star also scored eight goals and registered five assists for Leipzig last term and it is reported that Bayern Munich are also interested in him this summer.

Olmo has long been linked with a move to Man City and has even been touted as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne at the Etihad Stadium, amid reports linking the Belgian international with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

But now United could beat their rivals to his signature, which would prevent them from resolving one of their major transfer priorities. However, both clubs will need to move fast before Leipzig are able to charge astronomical figures for Olmo, who is under contract at the Red Bull Arena until the summer of 2027.

Olmo has a £51million release clause in his contract which expires on Saturday, July 20. The clause had initially been set to expire on Monday, July 15, but the date has been extended because of Spain securing their passage through to Sunday’s EURO 2024 final.

The EURO 2024 Golden Boot is in Olmo’s sights on Sunday, as well as winning the European Championship title, with the RB Leipzig star one of six players with three goals to his name. He currently leads the charts, though, by virtue of his two assists although England’s Harry Kane also has the trophy in his sights with three goals to his name, too.
