He is gone and out of reach; Manchester United defensive target signs for another club
Manchester United’s chase for another defender after signing Leny Yoro was an open secret in this transfer window.
If anything, that need got more priority after Yoro was injured in the pre-season game vs Arsenal, facing a spell of up to three months on the sidelines.
The trouble has always been finding funds for more players as the club are in FFP purgatory due to years of mismanagement under the Glazers.
It has left United scrambling, and open to either being gazumped by another club, or their transfer target having a change of heart while they try to secure funds.
That has happened now with one of their targets as he has signed a new contract at his current club.

Man United chase ends with contract extension
Of course, the noise has reached fever pitch around the potential signing of Matthijs de Ligt, on whom Fabrizio Romano dropped a big update recently.
De Ligt, along with Mazraoui, have been expected to be the next in line for United’s signings this window, with the club having a double bid rejected recently.
There is confidence that the deal will eventually be completed and the need for it to happen now has increased significantly since one of their targets is off the market.
Juventus have confirmed that defender Gleison Bremer has signed a contract extension with the club that takes him through to 2029 in Turin.

Tuttomercato also report that the new contract increases his release clause to a figure above €60 million, coming after just a year since his first renewal.
Bremer has long been linked to United as one of the premier center-backs in Europe who, at just 27, is approaching his peak.
There were reports earlier in the window that United were just waiting for clarity on the manager’s position to launch a bid for the Brazilian.
As it turned out, De Ligt unexpectedly became an opportunity after Vincent Kompany’s arrival at Bayern Munich made him expendable.
Due to his familiarity with Erik ten Hag, younger age, affordability, and more experience at elite sides, he became a no-brainer option for United as Bremer was pushed to the back.
Done for now, but is the chapter closed?
While there is zero chance that Bremer leaves Juventus now in this window, or even in January, the fact he signed a contract renewal just a year after his original one speaks volumes.
He has clearly negotiated better terms for himself due to the interest shown in his services since there was a lot of time remaining on his original deal anyway.
Furthermore, the release clause not being removed from the contract, merely increased, says he still has one eye on controlling his own future.
Next year, United might no longer have three of the current center-back crop on their books- Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, and Jonny Evans.
Another center-back will definitely be on the agenda and Bremer, with his release clause just below £60 million will represent good value for money if he maintains his form in Serie A.
The Gleison Bremer transfer chase has definitely been delayed, but the chances of it having ended are as slim as the chances of him leaving Juventus in this window.
