Al-Hilal have made a contract offer to a Manchester City star as they seek to sign the experienced defender from the Premier League champions.

Manchester City’s veteran right-back Kyle Walker has received a formal contract offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, according to recent reports. The 34-year-old England international, who has made 301 appearances for City, is currently weighing the offer from the Middle Eastern club.

Walker was close to leaving City last summer, with Bayern Munich showing strong interest and reaching terms with the player. However, a last-minute intervention from City manager Pep Guardiola convinced Walker to stay at the Etihad Stadium. At that time, Walker cited personal reasons and a desire to escape intense British media scrutiny as factors in his consideration to move.

Since then, Walker has remained a crucial part of Manchester City’s success, captaining the team and helping them achieve a historic Treble, including a fourth consecutive Premier League title. Despite his contributions, Al-Hilal’s offer presents a significant opportunity for Walker, who is reportedly giving the move serious consideration.

Manchester City, while open to the possibility of a sale, are reportedly only willing to let Walker go for a substantial fee. The Saudi Pro League’s interest in City’s mainstay goalkeeper Ederson, coupled with their reluctance to meet the £50 million release clause for him, suggests they may face challenges in meeting City’s expectations for Walker.

Pep Guardiola and his staff continue to plan with Walker in mind for the current season, but competition for his position has intensified. Emerging talent Rico Lewis impressed in City’s Premier League opener against Chelsea, showcasing his versatility and further adding to the competition at right-back.
