Negotiations between Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are reportedly making significant progress regarding the potential transfer of midfielder Manuel Ugarte. Sources indicate that both clubs are keen to finalize the deal, with cautious optimism that an agreement could be reached before the transfer deadline.

The preferred outcome for both United and PSG is a permanent transfer. However, discussions have also included the possibility of a loan deal with an obligation to purchase, should a full transfer not materialize immediately.

To facilitate the move, United is creating additional squad space through potential departures. Facundo Pellistri is linked with a move to Panathinaikos, while Hannibal Mejbri could join Burnley. Despite these potential exits, Scott McTominay is expected to stay at Old Trafford, which might necessitate some financial maneuvering to accommodate new signings.

United’s management is aware of Ugarte’s eagerness to join the club and PSG’s willingness to reach a deal. However, with Ugarte’s potential move still under negotiation, United is exploring other midfield options. They have engaged in discussions with Fiorentina regarding Sofyan Amrabat, who represents a less expensive alternative to Ugarte.

Additionally, Manchester United continues to monitor Frenkie de Jong’s situation at Barcelona. De Jong, who has long been admired by United, is in the final two years of his contract. The club had previously sought to sign him last summer and remains interested in his availability.

As the transfer window nears its close, United’s efforts to secure Ugarte or another key midfield reinforcement are intensifying, reflecting their commitment to strengthening the squad for the season ahead.
