Jadon Sancho rejects potential move to Chelsea and opts join Juventus instead while Ben Chilwell wants Man Utd move
In a shocking turn of events, Jadon Sancho has rejected a potential move to Chelsea, opting instead to join Juventus on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy. Meanwhile, Manchester United is intensifying their efforts to sign Ben Chilwell from Chelsea.
According to GOAL, Sancho was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but the England international has chosen to pursue a new chapter in his career with the Italian giants. This decision marks the end of Sancho’s tenure at Manchester United, where he has struggled to find his footing since joining the club.
On the other hand, Manchester United is pushing to sign Ben Chilwell, with talks reportedly gaining momentum. The Red Devils are eager to bolster their defensive options, and Chilwell’s versatility and experience make him an attractive target.
Interestingly, there were whispers of a potential loan swap between Chilwell and Sancho, but Sancho’s decision to join Juventus has put an end to that speculation. Chelsea, meanwhile, is considering alternative options to strengthen their squad, with the transfer window still open.
As the transfer saga unfolds, fans and pundits alike will be keeping a close eye on the developments at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge. One thing is certain – the transfer market is full of surprises, and this latest twist is sure to send shockwaves through the football world.
Man Utd defender Rhys Bennett is closing in on a loan to Fleetwood Town ahead of transfer deadline day.
Ruud van Nistelrooy talking with Rhys Bennett.
Manchester United defender Rhys Bennett is close to joining Fleetwood Town on a season-long loan.
Bennett travelled to the United States for this summer’s pre-season tour and made substitute appearances against Arsenal in Los Angeles and Liverpool in South Carolina.
The centre-back wants regular game time this season and although his proposed loan to Fleetwood is yet to be complete, it should be finalised before the transfer deadline.
Fleetwood are competing in League Two after relegation from the third division and are currently managed by former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam. United hope the loan will help Bennett in the next stage of his development as he looks to test himself in a senior environment.
Bennett joined Stockport County on a six-month loan in the January transfer window and although he made just a single appearance at Edgeley Park, sources at Stockport described him as a ‘very positive individual around the camp’ and he received praise for his ‘very good attitude’.
The 20-year-old thanked Stockport and said ‘what an experience’ on social media when his loan concluded and he featured in a handful of United Under-21 games at the end of 2023/24.
Although Bennett’s loan at Stockport didn’t go as planned, it is hoped the months he spent around a title-winning squad were still beneficial to his education.
Bennett captained the Under-18 team that lifted the FA Youth Cup in the 2021/2022 season, scoring the opening goal of the final against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.
He is still yet to make his senior United debut but made the bench against West Ham in the Premier League before Christmas and against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup.
Bennett signed a new United contract last summer and is a local lad who was born in Denton.
