Breaking News: Partey returns to training ahead of Man City clash

Arsenal have now been handed a major boost, as Thomas Partey has returned to first-team training. The midfielder was initially expected to be out until after the October international break, having picked up a muscle injury in training shortly before the victory over Manchester United a month ago.

However, he has returned ahead of schedule, with a match against RC Lens in the Champions League and a huge title clash against Manchester City at the Emirates coming up this week.

The 30-year-old started the campaign as an inverted right-back, having been a crucial figure in the Arsenal midfield last season, before picking up his injury, but his return could be a timely one.

The Evening Standard have now reported that the Ghanaian is back training with the team, but it is still unclear whether he will play any part in tomorrow’s game away at RC Lens.

If Partey is able to join the squad for the game, a bench appearance could see him build some fitness ahead of Sunday’s game against Man City. If he is able to get some minutes under his belt, he could be a game-changing addition to the Arsenal midfield for Sunday’s showdown.

Partey started alongside Declan Rice in midfield in the Community Shield draw with City, where Arsenal were both solid at the back and dangerous going forward, and he can help provide a good balance in the middle of the park.

Rice can have more licence to push forward, amidst criticism that he is not offering enough output as a defensive midfielder, and with Rodri suspended for City, Partey can help Arsenal dominate possession at the Emirates.

Partey was described as “important” by Arsenal legend Ray Parlour last season, and if he can stay fit, he can have a huge impact on the team.

Arsenal are set to face the reigning champions, Manchester City in the premier league Game this weekend on Sunday, October 8 20

While heading to the Emirates Stadium, the City will definitely be looking to recover from back-to-back losses in domestic competitions. They suffered a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United in the EFL Cup last week and a 2-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the North Londoners are coming off a significant win against Bournemouth last weekend, with goals from Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, and Ben White.

This victory has propelled Mikel Arteta’s side to third place in the table with 17 points, just one point behind Pep’s City.

ARSENAL VS MANCHESTER CITY:-

PREDICTION

Both Arsenal and Manchester City will be back in Champions League action, facing Lens and RB Leipzig in the midweek, before their clash in the Premier League. Despite their impressive quality, the Gunners are considered the underdogs in this matchup. However, the North Londoners will be looking to build confidence through a series of victories as they aim to put an end to City’s dominance in the Premier League.

In their last four Premier League encounters, these teams have consistently seen at least three goals scored, with both sides finding the net in three of those matches. While Mikel Arteta’s squad has struggled in recent fixtures against the current champions, it’s worth noting that they did secure a victory against them to win the Community Shield earlier this season.

Furthermore, both teams boast tremendous talent and a strong desire for victory, making it challenging to predict the outcome. Based on their recent form and the competitive nature of the Premier League, this could lead to a closely contested match where both teams manage to score a goal each, ultimately sharing the points with a 1-1 final score.
