Early team news for United v Twente

Manchester United’s 2024/25 Europa League journey begins on Wednesday evening, with a fixture against FC Twente, of the Netherlands, at Old Trafford.
Although there was slight disappointment that we could not find a winning goal in our last outing, at Crystal Palace, it’s been a positive return to first-team action following September’s international break.
Convincing victories over Southampton and Barnsley have been complemented by key Reds making comebacks from injury, with Rasmus Hojlund the latest to regain fitness when appearing as a substitute at Selhurst Park. Mason Mount is also available again and was on the bench for the game in south-east London.
Both players could be options to start in the week, as Erik ten Hag prepares for a meeting with the side he represented over 200 times as a player across three spells.

Victor Lindelof looks to be the next in line for a return, as he has now resumed training with the rest of the group, while Tyrell Malacia took part in the warm-ups at Carrington on Friday.
Malacia is one of three left-backs who has been named in the Europa League A-list for the initial phase, alongside Luke Shaw – who is yet to feature this term due to a calf problem – and 17-year-old rookie Harry Amass.
While four of our five summer signings will be anticipating the prospect of a continental debut for the club, Leny Yoro is still working on his rehabilitation from the foot injury he picked up during Tour 2024, which later required surgery.
However, the France youth international is part of our squad for the new-look league phase, which comprises eight games and runs until late January.

TWENTE’S TEAM NEWS
Wednesday’s visitors sit fourth in the Eredivisie, after turning on the goal tap in Sunday’s 5-0 success at Almere City. Midfielder Sem Steijn was at the double, while Sam Lammers – a summer signing from Rangers – and former Norwich City forward Ricky van Wolfswinkel also found the target, alongside Anass Salah-Eddine.
The Enschede club last played in England in 2011, against Fulham, and Joseph Oosting’s side will have to negotiate this trip without Michal Sadilek, a key figure in last season’s third-placed finish.
The Czech midfielder is still recovering from an injury he suffered in a freak bicycle accident prior to Euro 2024, and he is joined on the sidelines by Younes Taha, who broke his leg during last weekend’s draw at home to PEC Zwolle.
