Transfer News: INEOS if fresh talk with Zinedine Zidane after missing out on Thomas Tuchel

According to a report by Manchester Evening News, Zinedine Zidane has been involved in private talks with Ineos’ chief executive officer of sport, Jean-Claude Blanc.

Zidane, who has been out of work since leaving Real Madrid at the end of the 2020/21 season, has recently been linked with the Manchester United managerial position.

Jean-Claude Blanc has reportedly kept communication open with Zidane amid growing speculation regarding a possible managerial change at Old Trafford.

While Manchester United’s current manager, Erik ten Hag, has faced pressure following a disappointing start to the season, the club has yet to make any drastic decisions.

Zidane, a three-time Champions League winning manager, remains an attractive option for top clubs and has been admired by Ineos for his accomplishments as both a player and a coach.

United’s decision-makers, including the key figures from Old Trafford, recently held a seven-hour meeting in London to discuss their current situation.

Despite the team’s struggles this season, no immediate changes were made, and it appears that the club will continue to support Ten Hag for the time being.

Concerns were raised during the meeting about the availability of high-caliber coaches, which may have influenced their decision to stick with Ten Hag.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have also missed out on another top managerial candidate, Thomas Tuchel, who has now taken over as England’s new manager.

Tuchel’s appointment may have further complicated United’s potential search for a new coach, making Zidane a more interesting possibility.

Despite his strong resume, Zidane has been without a club since leaving Real Madrid. The Frenchman has been previously linked with the French national team job, but Didier Deschamps has continued in his role as manager despite France’s recent disappointments on the international stage.

One potential challenge for Zidane in managing an English club like Manchester United could be his limited proficiency in English.

However, Zidane has made it clear that if he returns to management, it will be with the goal of winning trophies. “If I go back to a club, it is to win. I say this with all modesty. That’s why I can’t just go anywhere,” Zidane said in 2022.

According to Vanguard, Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has issued a stark warning to staff at the club following the dismissal of Sir Alex Ferguson from his role as global ambassador by the INEOS group.

The legendary manager’s departure comes after Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group, which recently acquired a 25% stake in Manchester United, implemented a series of cost-cutting measures aimed at reducing the club’s expenditure.

Sir Alex Ferguson had served as United’s global ambassador since his retirement in 2013, a position many believed was secure. However, Ratcliffe’s ownership stake has led to some controversial decisions at Old Trafford, including Ferguson’s unexpected exit.

Ferdinand, who played under Ferguson for 11 years, voiced his discontent over the decision, taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account to express his shock.

“If Sir Alex can be removed, then no one IS safe at @ManUtd – anyone can be next,” Ferdinand tweeted. “Is INEOS sending a message to everyone at the club?!”
