Man Utd News: Manchester United set to loan out new signing Joshua Zirkzee in a bid to bring in 21-year-old forward
Manchester United is poised to shake up its attacking lineup by loaning out Joshua Zirkzee and signing highly touted 21-year-old forward Benjamin Sesko
Zirkzee, signed from Bologna this summer, has failed to impress with just one goal in 11 appearances across all competitions. His underwhelming performance has contributed to United’s scoring struggles, with the team managing a mere seven goals in eight Premier League games.
Meanwhile, Sesko has been turning heads with his impressive form for RB Leipzig, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 10 outings this season. The Slovenian youngster was heavily linked to Arsenal during the summer transfer window but opted to extend his contract with Leipzig.
However, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Sesko has a gentleman’s agreement with Leipzig, allowing him to depart for a fair price. Manchester United aims to capitalize on this opportunity, targeting a summer 2025 transfer.
To make room for Sesko, Zirkzee is likely to be loaned out, with Juventus emerging as a potential destination. Thiago Motta, Zirkzee’s former manager at Bologna, currently helms the Turin-based club.
Erik ten Hag’s squad overhaul continues amidst pressure to deliver results. United’s poor start to the season, coupled with significant summer investments, has raised questions about Ten Hag’s job security. The reported £17 million compensation for sacking the Dutch manager may have stayed the club’s hand, despite their 11th-place Premier League standing.
On Thursday night, Manchester United return to play in the Europa League, traveling to Turkey to face Fenerbahçe.
Manchester United will meet Fenerbahçe in the Europa League on Thursday, and it promises to be a night of reunions.
Erik ten Hag will meet former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho in the dugout, while Fred and Sofyan Amrabat will attempt to show the Dutch manager what he is missing in central midfield. However, these will not be the only reunions. Goalkeeper Altay Bayindir will also face his former team, having left the Turkish giants just over a year ago to become Manchester United’s second-choice.
Bayindir has had to bide his time in Manchester, making only two competitive appearances for the club, in the FA Cup triumph over Newport County in January and the Carabao Cup win over Barnsley last month. The 26-year-old is solidly behind Andre Onana in the pecking order.
With United still without a Europa League win, Bayindir’s involvement on Thursday night would be a great surprise, but he will do everything he can to make it happen.
“I was happy when I was paired with Fenerbahçe,” he told TRT. “Only one match is played, whether at home or away. It feels weird to term this an away game. Actually, that doesn’t look like an away game to me. I’ll just be in a separate dressing room. I left Fenerbahçe on excellent terms. “Our fans will warmly welcome me.
He continued, “I spoke with manager Erik ten Hag about not playing for Manchester United. I always accept the manager’s decision, but I’ll do anything to play. “I’m just focused on the pitch.”
