Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho responded perfectly to criticism from a fan ahead of the club’s Europa League match tonight.
The Red Devils have struggled this season winning just five of their first sixteen games. It led to the sacking of Erik ten Hag last week with Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim chosen as his permanent replacement.
The 39-year-old is not taking charge until the international break though, meaning attention has turned to the players who have failed to deliver on the pitch. Supporters have been quick to criticise some members of the squad, with one pointing the finger at Garnacho despite the Argentine being United’s top goal scorer so far.
The 20-year-old is widely viewed as the bright spark amongst the group and has netted six goals across all competitions. However, this fan didn’t seem to agree and posted a video on social media of him confronting Garnacho outside Old Trafford.
In a clip reposted on X, PLANETFAZ can be heard asking Garnacho to “you’ve got to pass better today, score a goal and work on your first touch as well.” The winger remained calm while stopping to sign autographs and pose for selfies with other patient supporters.

Just before he made his way inside the ground, he turned towards the fan and responded: “Why are you not playing man.” Garnacho has been praised for handling the situation well with one person calling the fan who can be heard an “Absolute nut job” and another saying he needs to “grow up.”
United have impressed under interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy and look well placed to pick up their first win in Europe tonight having drawn their opening three games against FC Twente, FC Porto and Fenerbahce.
While Garnacho didn’t produce his best performance in Sunday’s Premier League game against Chelsea, hurling this kind of criticism towards him isn’t going to help anyone.
According to a report by Manchester Evening News, Ruben Amorim, the new manager of Manchester United, may face challenges with player availability for his first match in charge.
Amorim is set to take over after fulfilling his commitments with Sporting CP, officially starting on November 11.
However, in the lead-up to his debut, United has crucial matches against PAOK Thessaloniki in the Europa League and Leicester City in the Premier League, both of which are at home.
Unfortunately for Amorim, two of his key players, Lisandro Martinez and Kobbie Mainoo, may be unavailable due to suspension risks.
Each player is currently one booking away from a one-match suspension, having accumulated four yellow cards this season.
Martinez received his latest card during the dramatic 1-1 draw against Chelsea, while Mainoo has been sidelined with a muscle injury following a draw against Aston Villa, where he also picked up a yellow card.
Mainoo, who broke into the first team last season, has been a standout performer for United, showcasing impressive dribbling and passing abilities.
His absence has been felt by the team, and while he might be in line to return for the match against Leicester, interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy may opt to hold him back until he is fully fit for Amorim’s first game against Ipswich.
Despite a rocky start to the season, United has managed to secure four clean sheets, placing them second in the league for defensive records, just behind Liverpool.
Martinez plays a crucial role in the defensive lineup, and Amorim will likely want him to feature prominently from the start.
Looking ahead, United faces a potential dilemma if other defenders like Diogo Dalot and Harry Maguire also receive bookings, which could leave the team with several defenders on edge, concerned about suspensions.
The yellow cards reset after the 19th game of the season, adding to the urgency of managing player discipline. Amorim will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on the upcoming Leicester match, feeling the pressure even before officially stepping into his role at Manchester United.
