Manchester City have a lot going on at the moment on and off the pitch.
Recent weeks have seen City lose four games in a row, something that a Pep Guardiola side has never done before.
Despite that, the Citizens are still in the mix to potentially add another Premier League trophy to their cabinet by the end of the campaign.
Off the field, the Manchester club are battling it out with the Premier League over their alleged 115 breaches of historic financial regulations.
With the latest and final international break of 2024 now underway, some behind-the-scenes claims have been made regarding one particular deal the Blues have been mentioned with being involved in for some time.

Transfer expert sheds light on Man City’s contract hopes for Erling Haaland
Speaking to Manchester City News, GRV Media’s transfer expert, Graeme Bailey, shared this insight into what’s going on behind the scenes regarding the Blues’ aims to get Erling Haaland to sign a new contract.
He said: “City are confident about agreeing terms. They’ve been trying for two years.
“Obviously, the issue has always been the release clauses, which are not going to be removed from the contracts in any way, shape or form. It’s not going to happen. City have come to terms with that.
“Their hope is that they can be altered in terms of when they come into play. If he signs a new deal for instance in the next few weeks or months, which City hope, that will, from my understanding, mean it won’t be allowed to be triggered until 2026 rather than 2025.
“They’re not massively worried as the clauses are going to be huge anyway for teams to meet that. And Haaland has always had these in, they make sure these are in there for the long-term safety of the player.
“It’s just the situation that every contract Haaland has ever signed has had release clauses and that’s not going to change for this one. It’s nothing to do with him, or an exit strategy or anything like that, it’s just how they work.
“City, from my understanding are increasingly confident that he’ll agree.
“Obviously [Ferran] Soriano is very busy with Guardiola as well. They think Haaland will commit to a new deal. Obviously it will involve a huge wage increase for him, but money wasn’t really the issue particularly.
“It will at least extend his stay in the short-term and completely put an end to any talk he may go in the summer.”
What has been claimed about Haaland’s new contract?
Haaland joined the club back in the 2022 summer transfer window on an initial five-year deal worth an overall fee of £51m.
Back in September, it was reported that City are close to agreeing Haaland’s improved contract, with the striker’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, having held several meetings with the club regarding the matter.

Now that Bailey has highlighted how eager City have been to tie the Norwegian down to a new and improved contract for some time, this showcases how eager they are to keep him at the club for the foreseeable future.
Having also shared how confident the club are in seeing Haaland put pen to paper on a new deal, this should delight a lot of City supporters hoping to see the striker continue to fire in goals for their team without having to fear for his immediate future.
