Pep Guardiola -Liverpool is on fire at the moment and with our current form I don’t know what will happen at Anfield

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed uncertainty over how his team will approach next week’s highly anticipated match against Liverpool, following a disappointing 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at home on Saturday.

According to reports from DAILY POST, the defeat at the Etihad Stadium leaves the Premier League champions five points behind Liverpool, who are set to face Southampton on Sunday. Should Liverpool secure a victory, they will extend their lead over City to eight points ahead of their clash next weekend. Guardiola’s side, which has been a dominant force in English football in recent years, will now need to regroup ahead of what could be a pivotal fixture in the title race.

Speaking after the heavy loss to Spurs, Guardiola acknowledged the challenges his team faces, particularly following a match that saw City struggle to find their rhythm. “We have to come back and freshen our minds. The season is so long, and many things can happen,” Guardiola said. “Before the game, I didn’t know what would happen today. So I don’t know what will happen at Anfield.”

Guardiola’s comments reflect the uncertainty and frustration within the Manchester City camp following a lackluster performance. The team’s struggles were evident, particularly in their difficulties when they did not have possession. “We struggled more without the ball,” the City boss noted, indicating that Spurs were able to capitalize on City’s defensive lapses.

Despite the heavy defeat, Guardiola remained optimistic, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of the season. “Our game was there,” he continued, pointing to the fact that while City faced significant challenges in the match, the long-term trajectory of the campaign could still see them make up ground.

As City now shifts their focus to their trip to Anfield, Guardiola will have to quickly address the issues exposed in the Tottenham defeat. The upcoming clash with Liverpool is expected to be a crucial test for Manchester City’s title credentials, with both teams fighting for supremacy at the top of the Premier League table.
