Manchester City will be hoping they are back on track when they host neighbours Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 15th December at 4:30pm.

The 2024-25 Premier League season isn’t going as planned for Man City. The defending champions have a massive uphill battle if they are to win a fifth consecutive league title, now 11 points behind league leaders Liverpool.
They’re currently on a losing streak of four in the Premier League, having gone unbeaten in their opening nine. It’s a run that has also seen them move down the table, outside the top four on goal difference after 13 games.
Man United are going the other way. The Red Devils started the season poorly and made the big decision to sack Erik ten Hag, replacing him with Amorim. Since then, Man United have been on the up.
They’re unbeaten in four games since sacking Ten Hag, which includes a win and a draw during Ruud van Nistelrooy’s interim spell. It has lifted them to ninth, now just four points from the top four. They’ve also got a positive goal difference now, scoring four more goals than they have conceded.

Man City will remain without Mateo Kovacic and Oscar Bobb, with the former expected back just before Christmas. Rodri is out for the season.

Victor Lindelof remains the only confirmed absentee for this game, with Man United enjoying a positive period with regards to injuries.

Man City beat Man United home and away in the Premier League last season, scoring three goals each time. But Man United got their own back in the FA Cup final. Man City did win the Community Shield meeting earlier this season, albeit on penalties.
