Ruben Amorim makes his feelings clear about Alejandro Garnacho after Tottenham loss

Ruben Amorim has commended Alejandro Garnacho for his commitment in training following the young winger’s exclusion from Manchester United’s recent derby clash against Manchester City as reported by Daily Express.

Garnacho, who missed out on the squad for that game, returns to the bench as United face Tottenham in a crucial Carabao Cup quarter-final.

The United manager, dealing with an evolving squad, has opted for Leny Yoro, Victor Lindelof, and Lisandro Martinez as his defensive trio.

Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui will feature as wing-backs, with Mazraoui overcoming a knock sustained during the Manchester derby.

In midfield, Manuel Ugarte and Christian Eriksen are set to anchor play, while Antony, Bruno Fernandes, and Rasmus Hojlund lead the offensive line.

Notably, Marcus Rashford has been omitted from the squad, and Matthijs de Ligt remains sidelined due to illness.

Speaking about Garnacho’s reintegration into the team, Amorim expressed confidence in the Argentine’s abilities.

“He’s prepared to play the game, and I really like the way he trained,” Amorim said. “He is ready to help us, and we need this kind of ability from him.”

Addressing Rashford’s absence, Amorim stated the importance of tactical decisions in his selection process.

“I have chosen the players who are ready to cope with the demands of playing a strong game,” he stated, adding that squad choices are based on weekly preparations and overall readiness.

With Amorim’s focus on improving the team, Manchester United continues to chase trophies while keeping their long-term goal of Premier League success in sight.

The match against Tottenham serves as another test of the team’s depth and determination.

According to Daily Post, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim admitted his team was not “clinical” enough in their 4-3 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on Thursday night.

Spurs quickly took control of the match, surging to a three-goal lead, with Dominic Solanke scoring twice and Dejan Kulusevski adding a third.

However, United responded with two goals, one from Joshua Zirkzee and the other from Amad Diallo.

Heung-Min Son then extended Spurs’ lead with a fourth goal, before Johnny Evans pulled one back for United with a header, making it 4-3.

Speaking after the match to Sky Sports, Amorim reflected on his team’s performance, saying: “We disconnected at the beginning of the second half, that was difficult. If you look at all of the games we were the best team but they were more clinical.”

Despite the loss, Amorim praised his players’ effort, adding, “We lost but the fight from the lads was really important for me.”

The match was a high-paced encounter with both sides creating numerous chances, but Tottenham’s clinical finishing ultimately proved the difference. Despite the defeat, United showed resilience, and Amorim will likely look to build on the determination displayed by his players moving forward in the competition.
