Manchester United are reportedly set to open talks with Atalanta over a potential £50m move for midfielder Ederson, who is also a target for Manchester City.
According to Sportskeeda, Manchester United have been scouting Ederson extensively and are now waiting for final approval from the board to make a move for the 25-year-old Brazilian.
Ederson has been impressive for Atalanta this season, scoring two goals and providing an assist in 22 appearances across all competitions. His performances have caught the attention of both Manchester United and Manchester City, who are both looking to strengthen their midfield options.
Manchester United’s interest in Ederson is understood to be driven by their need to strengthen their midfield, with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen approaching the twilight of their respective careers. Ederson’s signing would provide Manchester United with a talented and versatile midfielder who could help to drive the team forward.
However, Manchester United will face competition from Manchester City for Ederson’s signature. Manchester City are also looking to strengthen their midfield options and have identified Ederson as a potential target.
Atalanta are reportedly looking for a fee of around £50m for Ederson, which could prove to be a stumbling block for both Manchester United and Manchester City. However, with both teams looking to strengthen their midfield options, it is likely that they will be willing to meet Atalanta’s valuation.
