Romano claims £6m target is close to Manchester United move

Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is currently in the UK preparing for his move to Manchester United.

United have been pushed in their search for another goalkeeper after signing Andre Onana from Inter earlier this summer.

Dean Henderson is on his way to Crystal Palace after being cleared to move to Selhurst Park.

Henderson was on the bench for each of United’s first three Premier League games earlier in the season, including Saturday’s win over Nottingham Forest.

This appears to be Henderson’s latest addition to United’s squad for the day as his transfer to Palace is now imminent.

United need to bring in a replacement to compete with Onana and it looks like Bayindir will be that player

UK’s Altay Bayindir looking to complete transfer to Manchester United

Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has become United’s top target in recent days. Fabrizio Romano now reports that Bayindir is “already in England” before completing his move to Old Trafford.

United are said to have signed a €7 million contract and Bayindir is on his way to becoming a United player.

Bayindir’s move has been in the works for days and he said goodbye to Fenerbahce fans on Thursday evening after their 5-1 Europa Conference League playoff victory over Twente.

Fenerbahce have already secured a replacement for Bayindir, with Croatia international stopper Dominiik Livakovic joining from Dinamo Zagreb

Bayindir’s move makes sense for Manchester United

The Bayindir rumors only really started to heat up in July, when the Daily Mail claimed that United were in deal talks

Henderson’s departure was always likely and United apparently had Bayindir selected as a key target to replace him.

The 6-foot stopper is bargain priced, potentially allowing United to reinvest money elsewhere, at Sofyan Amrabat for example. Bayindir is only 25 and has plenty of room to develop, but he also has almost 150 Fenerbahce caps to his name.

Cheap, tall, experienced but with room to grow, Bayindir looks like a tough contender for Onana.

A replacement for Onana looks unlikely, but Bayindir – hailed as a “special player” by Fenerbahce chairman Ali Koc – will push him to the limit.
