Young musian, Mohbad, 27, died on 12 September and was laid to rest in Ikorodu, Lagos State, the following day.
The singers, real name Ilerioluwa Aloba, shocking and untimely death gripped the nation as his fans, colleagues, and the entertainment industry tried to seek answers.
A week after his death, his remains were exhumed and an autopsy was performed. Since then, the police has continued investigations and so far, this is what we know.
Initial Altercation and Fight at Ikorodu Concert
Two days before his death, Mohbad had a heated argument and physical altercation with his friend Ibrahim Oluwatosin Owoduni also known as Prime Boy . Apart from being a colleague, Prime Boy is also a childhood friend. They had the argument after a concert at Ikorodu town hall. The argument escalated, resulting in injuries to Mohbad’s hand and ultimately his tragic demise.
Medical Negligence and Adverse Reactions to Injections
After incurring injuries, Mohbad’s refused to seek immediate medical attention despite pleas from his wife and friends. An alternate measure to take of his injured hand led his friends obtaining the services of Nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe, an unauthorized nurse. She administered injections namely, Tetanus Toxoid, Paracetamol and Ceftriaxone injections intravenously. Unfortunately, Mohbad had adverse reactions to the injections, leading to his deteriorating health.
Involvement of Naira Marley and Sam Larry
Witnesses alleged that Mohbad was bullied and assaulted by musician AbdulAzeez Adeshina Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley and socialite, Samson Erinfolami Balogun also know as Sam Larry . Disagreements over a record label contract and managerial issues fueled the tension between Mohbad and these individuals, contributing to the tragic events.
Though the duo have denied culpability in the death of Mohbad, there is ample electronic and credible evidence linking them to cyberbullying. There are also allegations of a threat to life, assault occasioning harm and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace against the deceased in his lifetime. These incidents were evident following their roles in the event that occurred at The Chandelier Club and Elegushi Beach in June 2023. There is also and allegation of assault on Mohbad in October 2022 around the residence of Naira Marley at Lekki.
