Manchester City goalkeepers suffers fatigue during international break

The nature of Manchester City’s small squad has many benefits but some have raised concern about its depth ahead of a season that could contain 50-plus matches.

The size of Pep Guardiola’s cohort means game load must be managed tightly amid the fact there is not too much room for rotation. Several times already this season, City have been unable to name a full bench with two goalkeepers often listed.

Injuries to several key players have meant Guardiola has had to rely on each corner of his squad at some point so soon into the season, and the luxury of having versatile players has been vital in keeping the momentum going.

While the match conditions won’t be as severe this time around, both Brazil and Argentina play in the early hours of Wednesday UK time. They will then have to travel back to England, and recalibrate, before preparing for a trip all the way down to Brighton the following Saturday.

Perhaps both players will be used to it, but Guardiola’s lamenting over the schedule is justified and it’s an issue he will have to deal with. It’s no wonder he has

At the same time Ederson was competing for Brazil, Alvarez of City was playing at high altitude against Bolivia with him and his teammates having to wear oxygen masks in the build-up to acclimatize.

.Julian Alvarez and Ederson have both started for Argentina and Brazil overnight. The pair of City stars have both been heavily involved as the Conmebol World Cup Qualifying section is in full swing. It is arguably the most difficult section of all the regions from which to qualify for the World Cup. The South American sides face each other regularly in the Copa America and World Cup qualifying making each contest a tough one for each side.

Julian Alvarez got through 53 minutes for Argentina. The Argentineans beat a stubborn Paraguay 1-nil. Former City defender Nicolas Otamendi scored the winner for Argentina in the third minute.

City’s in-form man started up front for Argentina who lined up with Lionel Messi on the bench. Alvarez put himself about and was his usual busy self whilst on the pitch. In a positive for the treble winners, he was substituted in the 53rd minute, thus not completing the full 90 minutes.

Ederson started in goal for Brazil as they drew 1-all with Venezuela. It was a disappointing result for the 5 time World Cup winners, especially at home. It was also the first points they’ve dropped after winning their opening two games.
City’s shot-stopper was in good form for his country.

He had a relatively quiet night in goal and did his work well when called upon. He will however be disappointed to concede a late equaliser as Brazil failed to put the plucky Venezuelan side away.

Julian Alvarez and Ederson will likely again feature in Argentina and Brazil’s next World Cup qualifiers next week. Such has been their form on national duty. It was a busy night for City’s stars on national duty overnight.
