Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, has told the club’s fans to get ready to suffer because he will not change the way he does things at the club.
The Portuguese said he will not change the way he sets his team up, asserting that the Red Devils just need to ‘survive this moment.’
The 39-year-old spoke at a post-match press conference after watching his team fall to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Brighton at Old Trafford.
Yankuba Minteh put Brighton ahead in the 5th minute, Kaoru Mitoma made it two in the 60th, and Georginio Rutter put the game beyond the Red Devils’ reach in the 76th minute.
Bruno Fernandes’ 23rd-minute penalty goal was Manchester United’s only shot on target.
“With me, it’s clear I’m not going to change the way I see the game. I’m very clear on that. The players will suffer and the fans are going to suffer. I’m really sorry, I have one way of doing things.
We need to survive this moment and it’s very clear for everybody what we are going to do. I’ve explained this situation. I will play the way I play because that was the idea. I was very clear in everything, with the fans, the board, and everybody,” Amorim added.
The Red Devils will take on Scottish side Rangers in the UEFA Europa League.

Manchester United have reportedly made a verbal offer for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as manager Ruben Amorim seeks reinforcements to strengthen his struggling squad. The club’s 3-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday has left United languishing in 13th place in the Premier League, heightening the urgency to sign a reliable number nine.
Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has emerged as United’s “dream” signing. According to Turkish journalist Kagan Dursun, the Red Devils offered €70 million for the 26-year-old striker, though their efforts to lure him to Old Trafford in the January transfer window have so far been unsuccessful.
Osimhen Determined to Stay at Galatasaray
Reports suggest that United sent representatives to Istanbul in a bid to convince Osimhen to cut his loan spell short and join the Premier League side this month. However, the player is reportedly determined to remain at Galatasaray until the summer.
Osimhen has been in outstanding form, netting 14 goals and providing six assists in 18 appearances for Galatasaray this season, including a notable brace against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League. Despite his commitment to finishing the season in Turkey, the striker is expected to leave Napoli, his parent club, in a permanent move later this year.
United’s Struggles Highlight Need for a Reliable Striker
The search for a new forward has been fueled by the inconsistent performances of Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee, who have managed just 11 goals in a combined 57 appearances this season. Amorim is keen to close the gap between United and Europe’s elite clubs, and signing a proven goal-scorer like Osimhen is seen as a key step.
Viktor Gyökeres, who previously played under Amorim at Sporting CP, has also been linked to United, though the Swedish forward is not considered the top priority. Other potential targets for the summer include Jonathan David, Victor Boniface, and Randal Kolo Muani, as United aim to revamp their attacking options.
Competition for Osimhen’s Signature
United are not alone in their pursuit of Osimhen, with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain also reportedly interested in signing the Nigerian international. His impressive performances and goal-scoring prowess have made him one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.
As the January transfer window enters its final stretch, Manchester United are under pressure to secure reinforcements to address their lack of firepower up front. While the pursuit of Osimhen remains complicated, the Red Devils are expected to continue exploring options to boost their attacking lineup and turn their season around.
