Bruno Fernandes bids farewell after confirmed Manchester United exit

Man United captain Bruno Fernandes took to social media to make his feelings known regarding Antony’s departure after ‘liking’ a post.

Antony, 24, who joined Man United for a reported fee of £82million back in 2022, has departed for Spanish side Real Betis on loan for the rest of the season.

The winger failed to impress at the 20-time champions, scoring just 12 goals and providing five assists in his 96 appearances across all competitions for the club.

The Brazilian’s last appearance for Ruben Amorim’s side came in the form of a six-minute cameo in the 3-1 Premier League defeat to Brighton, with his most recent, and only goal of the season, being a penalty in the 7-0 League Cup win over League One side Barnsley.

Fernandes, 30, has once again been key for United, starting 32 of his 33 games across all competitions, scoring nine goals, and providing three assists in his 2788 minutes of action.

The attacking midfielder played the full 90 minutes for Amorim’s side as they secured a smash-and-gram 1-0 win over Fulham on Sunday (January 26), taking them up to 12th in the Premier League table.

Fernandes took to Instagram to seemingly wish Antony good luck, ‘liking’ Real Betis’ announcement video.

The Portugal international and United will doubtless be focussed on the Europa League after their win over Fulham as they prepare for a trip to Romania to face FCSB on Thursday (January 30).

Amrorim’s side will then host Crystal Palace in their first game of February, knowing a win could see them leapfrog Brentford in 11th.

As of January 28, 2025, there is no official confirmation of Bruno Fernandes leaving Manchester United. In fact, Fernandes has consistently expressed his commitment to the club. In May 2024, he stated his desire to remain at Old Trafford, emphasizing his ambition to compete for major trophies with United.

Furthermore, in August 2024, Fernandes extended his contract with Manchester United until 2027, despite receiving concrete offers from other clubs. He highlighted the club’s vision and his belief in a promising future as key reasons for his decision to stay.

Given these developments, any reports suggesting that Bruno Fernandes has bid farewell after a confirmed exit from Manchester United are unfounded. He remains a pivotal figure at the club, both

as a player and as captain.
