Man city’s Rico williams submits request to leave Ethihad and follow Kyle Walker to AC Millam

Man City will likely see another defender push to leave the club after Kyle Walker if things do not change in the near future.
The 34-year-old secured his departure from the Etihad Stadium earlier this week, with it being confirmed he has joined Italian side AC Milan on loan until the end of the season.
It is hard to see a way back for the England international in Pep Guardiola’s side, with many supporters already unimpressed with his comments since completing that move.
However one player who would have looked favourite to step into the void left by Walker at Man City may instead be more likely to follow him out of the club following an alarming fall in his standing.
Rico Lewis faces Kyle Walker similarities at Man City
In the past three seasons, Rico Lewis has emerged as a regular feature for the current Premier League champions.
The 20-year-old has emerged as something of an understudy to Walker at right-back, often stepping up and making some important contributions to the recent success Man City have enjoyed.

It would therefore have made sense for Lewis – who has made 79 first-team appearances for the club (Transfermarkt) to be the one to take over from the 34-year-old now that he has moved on from the club.
Instead the current situation would suggest that he is more likely to depart the club as things stand.
Despite Walker falling out of contention for selection ahead of his departure, Lewis has not been the one given the chance to replace him in the Man City side.
The young right-back has failed to start any of the club’s last five games across all competitions, only coming off the bench twice in that time.
Pep Guardiola uses Matheus Nunes at right-back
That prompted the club’s former defender, Danny Mills, to suggest Guardiola “no longer fancies” Lewis while commenting on their Champions League clash with PSG last week.
With Lewis then an unused substitute in the win over Chelsea on Saturday (26 January) that is a sentiment that is becoming harder to ignore.
What makes the situation even more damning for Lewis is that central midfielder Matheus Nunes continues to be picked in the right-back role by Guardiola ahead of him, despite struggling at times.
The 20-year-old though will know from his previous exploits with Man City that he is good enough to play more regularly than he currently is.
Having no doubt enjoyed being a significant part of their recent trophy wins too, he will surely be open to a move that allows him to play such a role elsewhere, if he continues to be overlooked by Guardiola.

Other clubs will doubtless be aware of the situation. With his age and pedigree making the Man City man an appealing target as well there be speculation over the future of another right-back at the Etihad soon.
All of that means if Lewis does not get the chances he ought to feel he needs and deserves in Guardiola’s side soon, Walker may have another right-back following his lead away from the club in the near future.
