Man City winger Jack Grealish agent blames coach and Kevin De Bruyne for his poor form at City

Man City winger Jack Grealish is not necessarily at fault for his poor form as sources close to the midfielder point to Pep Guardiola, reports BBC Sport.

Grealish has featured in 15 Premier League games this season, but has started just six times in a difficult campaign for the Englishman.

Following his £100million move from Aston Villa to the Etihad Stadium, Grealish has shown flashes of brilliance, but has largely struggled with consistency.

Now, following a report from BBC Sport, sources close to Grealish have emphasised that it is not just the Englishman who has struggled this year.

Those same sources feel that Grealish has lost out as Guardiola searches desperately to find a solution to City’s dreadful season so far, while backing the argument that his best qualities have been coached out of him at the Etihad.

Kevin De Bruyne has also been highlighted as a player that has been repeatedly overlooked, and that it is wrong to compare the Grealish who played for Villa, to the player he is currently.

De Bruyne may make a summer move to Saudi Arabia, following reports linking the Belgian with a big-money departure.

However, De Bruyne’s plight at City is not the same as the one that Grealish is currently suffering.

Both players have fallen out of favour to some degree, but De Bruyne has suffered with a recurrent muscular injury since September and has struggled for fitness. The Belgian international is also 33-years-old, and it is clear Guardiola is trying to manage his aging star’s minutes.

Grealish on the other hand, has been healthy this season, but is instead a player that Guardiola is hesitant to use.

The former Villa man has never fully established himself as a first-choice at City, and whilst that may be in part to Guardiola using him differently to his former Villa managers, the adaptability initially shown by the Englishman appears to have dwindled and hindered his career in Manchester.

This is also not the first time that sources have revealed information about the Englishman’s struggles, as it was reported Grealish was thankful to Guardiola for his support, but that expectations placed on him were affecting his performances.

Man City Champions League campaign may give Jack Grealish chance to impress
Vitor Reis has not been registered for the Champions League, as the Brazilian misses out to Nico Gonzalez, Omar Marmoush and Abdukodir Khusanov, as knockout round additions to Guardiola’s squad.

Grealish will likely be given an opportunity to impress however, as the former Villa man has featured five times in Europe this season.

While he often cuts a lonely figure on the left-flank in the Premier League for City, the Champions League can be an escape for him, as teams tend to play with more attacking impetus, opening up space for the England international.
