Liverpool injury news and updates ahead of Saturday’s Premier League hi with Everton

Liverpool are set to be without Andy Robertson for Saturday’s Merseyside derby against Everton – with the defender joining an ever-growing injury list at Anfield.

Robertson fell victim to a shoulder injury while turning out for Scotland against Spain in their Euro 2024 qualifier on Thursday. Manager Steve Clarke has since confirmed that the defender has returned to Merseyside, with Liverpool awaiting the results of a scan conducted earlier this week.

Robertson, who was pictured in a sling on Wednesday, is set to join Cody Gakpo, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic and Caoimhin Kelleher on the sidelines.

Gakpo missed Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this month after sustaining a knee injury during the defeat at Tottenham Hotspur last month and was subsequently left out of Holland’s squad for their October international commitments.

Despite Jurgen Klopp admitting he was hopeful of seeing the Dutchman return to action after the international break, any involvement in Saturday’s Premier League clash with Everton appears slim, with the Liverpool boss set to provide an update on the forward’s condition in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

Thiago and Bajcetic are also unlikely to be available for the Reds’ return to Premier League action, with both midfielders currently sidelined with hip and calf injuries respectively.

Asked by the ECHO for an update on Thiago’s condition after the Europa League victory over Union Saint-Gilloise on October 5, Klopp said: “He had now two setbacks in the rehab, not massive but enough to take him off the pitch again. Obviously, not the same injury, not at all, but a bit similar.”

Curtis Jones, meanwhile, will serve the second of his three-match suspension against Everton, having been controversially sent off in Liverpool’s defeat at Tottenham last month. The Reds had been unsuccessful in their appeal to get the midfielder’s suspension rescinded.

On a more positive note, Diogo Jota will be available for selection after serving his one-match suspension last time out and sitting out of Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Brighton.

Kelleher, however, is also expected to sit out of Saturday’s clash.
