BREAKING NEWS: Ohio State’s 2024 recruiting class was one of the best in the nation, and early reports suggest that two freshmen are already standing out in Columbus…

According to team insiders, linebacker Garrett Stover and wide receiver Jeremiah Smith have been turning heads during winter workouts and early offseason sessions.

Smith, the five-star receiver from Florida, arrived as the No. 1 wideout in the 2024 class, and he’s wasting no time proving why. At 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, Smith already looks physically ready for the college game. His combination of size, speed, and elite route-running has reportedly impressed both teammates and coaches. Even in limited offseason work, he’s been making highlight-reel catches and showing the work ethic that made him such a coveted recruit. With Marvin Harrison Jr. off to the NFL, Smith could push for immediate playing time in a stacked receiver room.

On the defensive side, Stover—a four-star linebacker from Ohio—has been making his presence known with his high motor and physical play. The cousin of Buckeyes tight end Cade Stover, Garrett has drawn praise for his football IQ and toughness. While Ohio State returns key veterans at linebacker, Stover is positioning himself as a future leader in the defense. Insiders say he’s been one of the hardest workers in the weight room and is quickly earning the trust of the coaching staff.

While it’s still early in the offseason, both Smith and Stover are making strong first impressions. If they continue on this trajectory, they could be key contributors for the Buckeyes sooner rather than later. Expect both names to be mentioned frequently as spring practice gets underway in Colu
