The highly anticipated documentary “Becoming Led Zeppelin” is set to premiere exclusively in IMAX theaters on February. 7, 2025. Directed by Bernard MacMahon, known for his work on “American Epic,” this film marks the first officially authorized account of the legendary rock band’s formation and meteoric rise. It features in-depth interviews with surviving members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones, as well as previously unheard archival interviews with the late drummer John Bonham.

 

The documentary offers an immersive journey through Led Zeppelin’s early years, showcasing never-before-seen footage from their 1969 performances at iconic venues such as the Atlanta Pop Festival, Fillmore West, and Texas Pop Festival. Writer-producer Allison McGourty and her team dedicated five years to unearthing and restoring rare film clips, photographs, and recordings, ensuring that these 55-year-old materials look and sound as if they were produced today.

 

Following its theatrical release, “Becoming Led Zeppelin” is expected to be available for streaming on Netflix around early June 2025, adhering to a typical four-month window after its initial debut. This documentary promises to be a definitive exploration of Led Zeppelin’s enduring legacy, offering fans both old and new an unprecedented look into the band’s history and cultural impact.
