Sheffield United vs Manchester United potential lineup: injury updates Shaky Sheffield no match for Red Devils
Sheffield United are one of two Premier League sides without a win
– Manchester United have won four and lost four in the Premier League
– Recommended bet: Man Utd to win & Over 2.5 goals
Sheffield United will be hoping a couple of weeks off will be the reset they require as they go in search of their first win since promotion back to the Premier League.
But if the pressure is on the Blades then it is also on the shoulders of Erik ten Hag, who needs Manchester United to start showing some consistency to get back in the top-four frame.
Team news
The injuries pile up for Sheffield United with Chris Basham still in hospital after his horror break at Fulham, while John Egan and Tom Davies are also missing.
It sounds like George Baldock is still at least a game away as well and Paul Hecking bottom must be tempted, with so few defenders, to ditch the back three and play Jayden Bogle at right-back in a 4-2-3-1 set-up.
For the Red Devils, Casemiro is out which might have been a disaster last season but less so this term with the Brazilian struggling.
Sofyan Amrabat could be partnered with Scott McTominay if Erik ten Hag wants to play two anchormen.
Raphael Varane could return though Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez are still missing.
Sheffield United have failed to win any of nine competitive matches this season, eight in the league and a 0-0 draw with Lincoln in the League Cup.
The
Blades’ last home game was an 8-0 humiliation by Newcastle.
Unsurprisingly, they boast the worst defence in the top flight, conceding an average 2.8 goals per game.
They also boast the worst shots per game record (8.9), second worst possession percentage (38.5) and second worst pass success percentage (73.7).
Manchester United and Manchester City are the only clubs in the top division without a draw this season. They have not had a draw in any of their last 19 games in all competitions.
