All agreed till January, Liverpool given two conditions to sign Man City star for £45m Premier League player in January

Liverpool-linked Kalvin Phillips will reportedly be allowed to leave Manchester City in January, though two conditions must be met.

According to the Daily Star, the English champions will allow the 27-year-old to depart on loan if a club is willing to pay Phillips‘ wages in full as well as sign the midfielder for good in the summer.Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for Phillips in recent weeks, though as per the report, Newcastle United, West Ham and Bayern Munich are also interested.

However, City’s demands could be a step too far for Liverpool, with the Manchester giants likely to demand at least £45m for the midfielder, the fee Pep Guardiola’s side paid for Phillips last year.

As a result, Phillips could quickly fall off Liverpool’s list of potential targets for January, with the finances involved something that the Reds might be unwilling to match.

Liverpool might soon drop interest in Phillips. Phillips ticks a lot of boxes for what Liverpool are looking for in a midfield signing in January. Yet given City’s new demands for the England international, a deal might make little sense.

As we know, more cover in the defensive midfield position is exactly what the Reds need if they’re to maintain their Premier League title bid.

However, Phillips could now be too unrealistic a target with the finances City are demanding for a player who has barely featured this season.
