COLUMBUS, OH – Ohio State Buckeyes junior forward Cotie McMahon has achieved a remarkable milestone by winning both the prestigious Maxwell Award and the Lisa Leslie Award, marking only the second time in Ohio State women’s basketball history that a player has secured both honors in the same season.

The Maxwell Award, traditionally associated with college football, recognizes the most outstanding player in collegiate sports. McMahon’s exceptional performance throughout the season has earned her this distinguished accolade, highlighting her as one of the premier athletes in college basketball.

The Lisa Leslie Award, named after the legendary Hall of Fame center Lisa Leslie, is presented annually to the top center in women’s college basketball. McMahon’s versatility and dominance in the paint have distinguished her as a formidable force, making her a deserving recipient of this honor.

Throughout the season, McMahon has been a cornerstone for the Buckeyes, leading the team with an average of 16.2 points per game. Her consistent high-level play has been instrumental in propelling Ohio State to a 20-1 record and a No. 8 national ranking. Notably, McMahon has achieved 17 double-figure scoring games and recorded four games with 20 or more points. Her contributions extend beyond scoring, as she has also averaged 4.7 rebounds per game and secured two double-doubles this season.

In addition to these accolades, McMahon was named to the Big Ten Preseason Team by both the media and the league’s coaches. She has also been recognized on the Big Ten weekly honor roll and was a top 10 finalist for the Cheryl Miller Award, which honors the nation’s best small forward.

McMahon’s historic achievement of securing both the Maxwell and Lisa Leslie Awards underscores her exceptional talent and significant impact on Ohio State women’s basketball. As the Buckeyes advance into postseason play, her leadership and performance will be pivotal in their pursuit of a national championship.
