Breaking news: Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate has been at the center of transfer speculation after reports surfaced that he received seven-figure NIL offers from other programs.
With the Buckeyes fresh off their National Championship victory, the buzz surrounding their star-studded receiving corps has been relentless—some of it legitimate, much of it sounding like tampering.
Despite the noise, Tate has put the rumors to rest.
“The plan was never to leave. I don’t know where that came from, where that started. I bleed Ohio State,” Tate said in a recent interview, reaffirming his commitment to the Buckeyes.
Tate, a former five-star recruit, played a pivotal role in Ohio State’s title run as a freshman, contributing as a reliable third option behind Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka. With both of them headed to the NFL, Tate is set to take on a much larger role in 2025. He projects as Ohio State’s No. 2 receiver, likely forming a dominant duo with rising sophomore Jeremiah Smith, another five-star talent.
With Ryan Day’s offense consistently producing elite receivers, it’s no surprise that Tate became a hot commodity in the NIL landscape. However, Ohio State’s winning culture and NFL pipeline appear to have been enough to keep him in Columbus.
The Buckeyes enter 2025 as a favorite to repeat as champions, and Tate will be one of their key playmakers. While NIL discussions will continue to swirl in college football, Tate has made one thing clear—he’s not going
anywhere.
