The Ohio State women’s basketball team has secured the No. 3 seed in the 2025 Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament.
This achievement follows a competitive regular season, culminating in a narrow 93-90 overtime loss to Maryland on March 2.
With a 24-5 overall record and a 13-5 mark in conference play, the Buckeyes earned a double bye in the tournament. They are slated to play on Friday, March 7, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Their game will commence 25 minutes after the conclusion of the 6:30 p.m. matchup. Ohio State’s opponent will be determined based on earlier tournament outcomes, specifically facing the winner among No. 6 seed Michigan State, No. 11 seed Iowa, and No. 14 seed Wisconsin.
The tournament’s structure provides the top four seeds—USC, UCLA, Ohio State, and Maryland—with double byes, advancing them directly to the quarterfinals. USC clinched the top seed after securing its first Big Ten regular-season title with a victory over UCLA.
Ohio State’s journey to the No. 3 seed has been marked by significant performances. Notably, junior forward Cotie McMahon leads the team with an average of 16.9 points per game. In the recent overtime game against Maryland, McMahon contributed 18 points and five rebounds before fouling out in the final moments.
Fans eager to support the Buckeyes can purchase tickets for the tournament sessions through the official Big Ten website. For those unable to attend in person, broadcasts are available: Wednesday’s games will stream on Peacock, Thursday through Saturday’s matchups will air on BTN, and the championship game on Sunday, March 9, will be televised on CBS at 4:30 p.m. ET.
As the Buckeyes prepare for their quarterfinal game, they aim to capitalize on their strong season performance and contend for the Big Ten Tournament title.
