Great news: Ole Miss, Chris Beard Agree to Contract Extension After 20-Win Season…

Ole Miss men’s basketball coach Chris Beard has agreed to a contract extension after leading the Rebels to a 20-win season in his first year, the university announced. The deal reinforces the school’s commitment to Beard, who has quickly revitalized the program.

Beard took over at Ole Miss in March 2023 and immediately turned the team into a competitive force in the SEC. The Rebels finished the regular season with a 20-11 record, marking their best win total since 2019. His leadership helped the team become a postseason contender, sparking optimism for the future.

“We are thrilled with the direction of our basketball program under Coach Beard,” said Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter. “His ability to develop talent and establish a winning culture is evident, and we are excited to continue building a championship program with him leading the way.”

Beard’s extension comes as no surprise, given his track record of success. Before Ole Miss, he led Texas Tech to the national championship game in 2019 and had a brief tenure at Texas. Known for his defensive intensity and player development, Beard has quickly made Ole Miss a respected program in the SEC.

While contract details were not immediately disclosed, sources indicate it includes increased financial incentives and long-term stability. The extension ensures Beard will remain at the helm as the Rebels aim for sustained success.

With a strong recruiting class and momentum from their 20-win season, expectations are high for Ole Miss in 2025 and beyond. The extension solidifies Beard’s role in shaping the program’s future as the Rebels look to compete at the highest level

in the SEC.
