JEREMIAH SMITH: I’m Motivated by Relationships, Not Money, When It Comes to Staying with Ohio State.

I have always loved Ohio State from the depth of my soul due to the culture, the relationships, and the sense of family that I feel every time I step on campus. From the moment I first connected with the Buckeyes, I knew this program was special—not just because of its rich history and tradition, but because of the people who make it what it is. That’s why, despite all the outside noise, my commitment to Ohio State has never wavered.

In today’s era of college football, money and NIL deals have become major factors in recruiting decisions. While I understand their importance in the modern game, they have never been my driving force. I am motivated by the bonds I have built with my coaches, my teammates, and the Ohio State community. The relationships I have with Coach Ryan Day, Coach Brian Hartline, and the rest of the staff go far beyond football. They genuinely care about me—not just as a player, but as a person. They have invested time and energy into my growth, and that means everything to me.

Beyond the coaching staff, my connection with my future teammates is just as strong. We are building something special at Ohio State, and I want to be part of a brotherhood that pushes each other to be great every single day. The competition here is second to none, and I know that being surrounded by elite talent will only make me better. Iron sharpens iron, and I want to be part of a team that competes for championships year in and year out.

Ohio State isn’t just a football program to me—it’s home. The fans, the atmosphere at The Shoe, and the legacy of great players who came before me all inspire me to give my all for this university. I want to be remembered not only for my talents on the field but for the impact I leave off of it as well.

At the end of the day, money comes and goes, but relationships last a lifetime. That’s why my heart is with Ohio State, and that’s why I am staying committed to the Buckeyes.
