Football Insider revealed on Monday (3 March) that the shot-stopper, 31, has a “strong possibility” of leaving City in the off-season.
It is believed the English champions will continue their rebuild and refresh of Pep Guardiola’s squad in the summer.

McAtee could join Ederson in quitting Man City
Football Insider has been told by industry insider Mick Brown (1 March) that Man City are still open to offers for James McAtee this summer.
The attacking midfielder, like Ederson, is out of contract at the Etihad Stadium in June 2026.
He has made 21 appearances this term, scoring six goals.
As of March 10, 2025, there is no official confirmation that Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes will be leaving the club for the Saudi Pro League this summer. While there have been reports of interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, particularly Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad, Ederson remains a key player for Manchester City.
Ederson’s Tenure at Manchester City
Ederson joined Manchester City in 2017 from SL Benfica for a reported fee of £35 million. Since his arrival, he has been instrumental in the club’s success, contributing to multiple Premier League titles, domestic cups, and a UEFA Champions League victory. Known for his exceptional shot-stopping abilities and distribution skills, Ederson has redefined the role of a modern goalkeeper under the guidance of manager Pep Guardiola.
Saudi Pro League Interest
In recent months, reports have surfaced indicating that Saudi Pro League clubs, notably Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad, have expressed interest in acquiring Ederson’s services. These clubs are reportedly prepared to offer substantial financial packages to lure the Brazilian goalkeeper to the Middle East. According to The Hard Tackle, Saudi Arabian clubs are keeping tabs on Ederson and could look to sign him at the end of the season.
Manchester City’s Stance
Manchester City has not publicly commented on these transfer speculations. The club values Ederson highly, given his contributions and the integral role he plays in their tactical setup. Replacing a goalkeeper of his caliber would be challenging, and it is likely that City would demand a substantial transfer fee should they consider any offers. Reports suggest that any interested club would be required to pay in excess of £30 million to land Ederson, who is also in the final year of his City contract this summer.
Ederson’s Perspective
Ederson has not made any public statements regarding a potential move to the Saudi Pro League. His current focus appears to be on fulfilling his commitments with Manchester City as they compete in multiple competitions. However, the allure of a lucrative contract and a new challenge in a growing football market like Saudi Arabia could be factors influencing his decision in the future.
