Breaking news:As Joey O’Brien, a highly sought-after four-star athlete from La Salle College High School in Pennsylvania, has decommitted from his previous commitment and pledged to join the Ohio State Buckeyes.
This decision comes after O’Brien received substantial interest from top programs, including Alabama, Georgia, and Nebraska.
O’Brien, primarily recognized as a safety but also lauded for his versatility across multiple positions, had been a focal point in the 2026 recruiting class. His dynamic playstyle and athleticism made him a prized target for several elite programs. Notably, Georgia extended a scholarship offer to O’Brien in November 2024, with head coach Kirby Smart aiming to bolster the Bulldogs’ defensive lineup.
Penn State also emerged as a strong contender in O’Brien’s recruitment. The Nittany Lions had scheduled an official visit with him for May 18, 2025, underscoring their keen interest in securing his commitment.
