The 2024/25 season has not gone according to plan at all, with Manchester City now fighting hard to secure Champions League football.

Normally at this point in the season, that is never a concern.

But this time around, Pep Guardiola’s side are under threat of missing out.

It has been clear this term that many players who’ve been so dependable for so long just aren’t good enough anymore. And so, changes are afoot.

Apparently, City could offload at least seven senior players this summer.

There have been lots of transfer links already, but City are now said to hold an interest in Juventus starlet Kenan Yildiz.

It’s been reported by journalist Rudy Galetti writing for TEAMtalk that Manchester City have been showing an interest in Juventus’ highly-rated winger Kenan Yildiz.

Yildiz is currently seen as one of the most exciting young players in Europe.

He’s been with Juve since 2022, and is enjoying a breakout season.

So far, he’s scored six goals and tabled four assists in 41 appearances, and has played 2742 minutes which is impressive for a 19-year-old.

It is claimed that interest is already quite high in Yildiz, with Manchester Untied reported to be ready to make a move after making initial contact.

Ruben Amorim knows he needs a big summer after a tricky start at Old Trafford.

But given their current financial problems, they may find signing Yidliz a tall order.

There is further interest from Liverpool and Arsenal.

Juventus are reported to be willing to sell the player, and his valuation is around £76 million. The suggestion is that Juventus missing out on Champions League qualification could see the player leave.

Yildiz is a very versatile player, which will likely appeal to Guardiola.

This season he’s played mainly on the left wing, but sometimes switched over to the right and even played centrally on occasion.

Breaking The Lines ran an interesting feature on Yildiz earlier this year and suggested that is actually somewhat similar to Kevin De Bruyne.

They say he’s ‘not as pacey as a traditional winger’, but that ‘the youngster has a burst of acceleration that allows him to beat his man and carry forward powerfully much like a younger Kevin De Bruyne’.

It is further stated that ‘what becomes immediately apparent is that he possesses incredible physical traits’. And the feature adds that ‘he boasts a notably strong frame for his age, which allows him to comfortably handle the physicality of senior football’.
