Rúben Amorim confirms two of his Manchester United players are “desperate” to leave the club this summer
Rúben Amorim has been told that two of his Manchester United players will be “desperate” to leave the club this summer amid ongoing issues at Old Trafford.
Manchester United have so far had a disappointing campaign under Rúben Amorim’s leadership after the Portuguese head coach arrived at Old Trafford in November 2024.
The recent 4-1 defeat to Newcastle was particularly damaging, confirming that the club will end this season with their worst-ever points total in the Premier League despite six matches still remaining.
A substantial overhaul during the upcoming summer transfer window is set to commence once the season ends. As part of this restructuring, several current players may find themselves leaving Old Trafford.
While those such as Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelöf, and Jonny Evans are all expected to leave with their contracts expiring, there are rumours about the ftuures of those such as Casemiro and André Onana, too.
Two United players “desperate” to leave
Amorim has been informed that two United players will almost certainly be eager to depart this summer.
According to former Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor, Jadon Sancho, currently on loan at Chelsea, and Alejandro Garnacho are “desperate” to leave. Agbonlahor expressed that many players might wish to exit the club soon to revive their careers.
“Well, it’s common knowledge, isn’t it? If you want a top career, you leave Manchester United,” the former English player said, via The Mirror. “That’s what it’s come to now. It used to be the opposite. You want a top career, you go to Manchester United. Now, if you leave, your career will blossom.
“Look at Elanga. Look at Marcus Rashford at Aston Villa. Then you look at the players at Manchester United. Is it too much pressure? Is it a big club and they can’t handle the pressure there? Or is it the negative vibe from top to bottom?
“If I’m Sancho and I get sent back to Manchester United, I’m desperate to leave again because there’ll be other players in that squad feeling the same. I bet Garnacho, if you asked him, would love to leave Manchester United, it’s a negative football club who are currently in a bad, bad way.”
United could make £75m from their sales
Sancho’s loan at Chelsea as seen the winger play 33 times for Enzo Maresca’s side, scoring three times and providing nine assists in that time.
The Premier League side have an obligation to pay £25 million to United to keep the player this summer, but it has also emerged that Chelsea have the option to pay a £5 million penalty fee to get out of said agreement.
Meanwhile, Garnacho’s future at the club is in jeapordy after he has failed to adapt to Amorim’s system. According to reports last week, United value him at around £50 million amid interest from Napoli.
Should both Sancho and Garnacho depart the club this summer, this could see United make up to £75 million in transfer fees for Amorim to spend in the coming months.
