Ruben Amorim gives Manchester United two reasons to sack him

Ruben Amorim’s brief stint at Manchester United is already raising eyebrows, with criticism mounting over the club’s continued struggles under his leadership as per reports from Givemesport.

The Portuguese manager took over in November following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, but results have failed to reflect any significant improvement.

In 21 Premier League matches, United have managed just six wins, three of which came against teams likely headed for relegation, Ipswich Town, Leicester City, and Southampton.

With ten losses and only 15 points gained, Amorim’s performance has drawn fierce scrutiny.

Pundit Richard Keys was particularly blunt in his recent blog post, questioning the manager’s capability and future at the club.

“An obvious one [reason for losing a job] is to not be very good,” Keys wrote, suggesting that Amorim may have found himself in a situation beyond his depth.

He also described the coach as being “in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Despite inheriting a struggling team, Amorim’s tactics and decisions are yet to convince fans.

The once-promising coach now faces the daunting task of rebuilding a squad that lacks confidence and direction.

Summer transfers could bring hope, with expectations of significant spending to revamp the team.

However, potential departures of key players like Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho may further complicate Amorim’s mission to win over supporters.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has had a change of heart and is now prepared to sell a player he was originally expected to retain.

Amorim is preparing to make significant changes to the squad this summer in an effort to raise the team’s overall performance and standards, following a disappointing season that has left United languishing in the lower half of the Premier League table. Their recent loss to Newcastle only highlighted the team’s ongoing issues.

According to GiveMeSport, United now intend to retain Joshua Zirkzee, while being open to offers for Rasmus Hojlund. Zirkzee, who arrived from Bologna in July 2024 for £36.5 million, had a rocky start at Old Trafford. Although he netted a last-minute winner on his league debut against Fulham, his form dipped, including a disappointing outing against Newcastle in December.

Since then, the 23-year-old has shown steady improvement, scoring key goals in Europa League clashes with Real Sociedad and Lyon. His adaptability—particularly his ability to slot into an attacking midfield role in Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation—has made him a more valuable asset to the club.

Meanwhile, Rasmus Hojlund, despite being given numerous chances, has failed to make a lasting impact. The Danish striker has struggled to find consistent form, and Amorim no longer sees him as part of United’s future. The club has reportedly set a transfer fee ahead of the upcoming window.

Additionally, goalkeeper Andre Onana may also be shown the door after a season marked by several costly mistakes, as Amorim looks to reshape the squad.
