BREAKING: Ta’Niya Latson and Raven Johnson, former high school teammates at Atlanta’s Westlake High School, are set to reunite on the South Carolina women’s basketball team for the 2025–26 season.
Latson, the 2024–25 NCAA scoring leader from Florida State, has transferred to South Carolina, joining Johnson, who has been a key contributor to the Gamecocks’ recent successes.
At Westlake, Latson and Johnson led their team to multiple state championships and a GEICO Nationals title. Johnson, recognized as the No. 1 point guard in the Class of 2021, had her high school jersey retired in April 2024.
Johnson has been instrumental in South Carolina’s achievements, including two national championships. In the 2023–24 season, she averaged 6.0 points and 4.0 assists per game, with a 2.7 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Latson brings impressive credentials, having been named a Second-team All-American in 2025 and earning multiple ACC honors during her time at Florida State.
Their reunion at South Carolina is anticipated to bolster the team’s backcourt strength, combining Latson’s scoring prowess with Johnson’s playmaking abilities.
