DEAL ACCEPTED: Tennessee’s Chaz Lanier Makes History with 2025 Oscar Robertson Trophy Win.

Knoxville, TN – In a moment that will forever be etched in Tennessee basketball history, rising star Chaz Lanier has officially claimed the 2025 Oscar Robertson Trophy, awarded annually to the nation’s top collegiate basketball player. Lanier’s electrifying season, marked by dominant performances, clutch moments, and undeniable leadership, earned him the most prestigious individual honor in the sport.

Lanier becomes the first Tennessee Volunteer in program history to receive the award, joining the ranks of legends like Larry Bird, Kevin Durant, and Zion Williamson. His impact on the court was undeniable—averaging 24.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game while leading Tennessee to a top seed in the NCAA Tournament and an SEC Championship.

“This is more than a personal achievement—this is for my team, for Vol Nation, and for every kid who dreams big,” Lanier said during the trophy presentation. “I came here to make a difference, and I’m proud to do it wearing orange.”

In addition to the Oscar Robertson Trophy, Lanier also took home the 2025 Jerry West Award, recognizing the best shooting guard in the country, and was unanimously selected as a First-Team All-American. Analysts and coaches alike praised his versatility, poise under pressure, and ability to take over games when it mattered most.

Head Coach Rick Barnes called Lanier “one of the most complete players I’ve ever coached” and praised his relentless work ethic and humility.

Lanier’s success has catapulted him into NBA Draft conversations, with scouts projecting him as a lottery pick should he declare. Regardless of what comes next, his 2025 campaign stands as one of the greatest in Tennessee history—cementing his legacy as a Volunteer legend and a national icon.
