Earl Campbell Donates $18.2 Million to New Texas Longhorns Stadium Project.

In a historic show of support for his alma mater, former football legend Earl Campbell has donated a staggering $18.2 million to the University of Texas’ new stadium project. The Hall of Famer and Texas Longhorns icon made the announcement earlier today, standing alongside head coach Steve Sarkisian in an emotional moment that underlined his enduring passion for the program.

“This is about more than football,” Campbell said. “Texas Longhorns pride lives within me wherever I go. It’s who I am. And I’m committed to helping build something special for generations to come.”

The donation, one of the largest ever given to the Texas athletics program by a former player, will go directly toward the development of a state-of-the-art arena that is expected to redefine the fan and athlete experience in Austin. The new stadium will include cutting-edge training facilities, luxury suites, enhanced seating capacity, and upgraded media and broadcast capabilities.

Coach Sarkisian, visibly moved by the gesture, praised Campbell’s lifelong commitment to the program: “Earl is not only a legend on the field, but a role model off of it. This contribution is transformational, and it shows just how strong the bond is between Texas football and those who wore the burnt orange before.”

Campbell’s gift is seen as a catalyst that could inspire further donations from alumni and supporters as the Longhorns look to solidify their place among college football’s elite with modern infrastructure and championship aspirations.

“I may not be on the field anymore,” Campbell added, “but my heart is still in the game. And it’ll always be with Texas.”

Construction on the new facility is expected to begin later this year, with completion targeted ahead of the

2027 season.
